Trying to stay in London but relatively convenient to Arkwright Road. Will be visiting in early March and can afford up to about $250 USD/night. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Hello there,
Soon will be my first trip to UK and I wonder what payment methods are most accepted in the stores.
Like credit cards? Checks? I also heard that 50 pounds are not accepted in the stores...

Thanks alot!

What do you think about your city? Is it really exciting like it's supposed to be? Would you like to live in another city? Maybe in Italy...
Thankyou!

just before our local school there are double yellow lines which were placed there to stop cars from parking and dropping their kids of to school as it was causing a serious problem before ie opposite a junction , when cars parked there it narrowed the road which in most cases made it almost impossible for cars to pass safetly on both sides of the road at the same time also previous accidents and bumps at that spot.
the car opened its door as my son was actually passing it as the damage to his car is on the side of his car and not the front which would of been the case if the door had opened as he was approaching the other car. my son could not of driven any further away from the parked cars as i have said above because of the narrowing and cars coming in the other direction. the driver of the other car has said that they are aloud to park there just to drop her kids of for school despite the yellow lines being put there to stop that happening. who is at fault?

Romford is in the London Borough of Havering, but when I drive from Romford to Brentwood, there is a sign for Essex on the A12, which indicates that I am entering Essex; also, the Police in Romford are Metropolitan police and in Brentwood, Essex police.
Are counties and boroughs different areas?

Hi. I will be traveling on British Airways (BA) from San Francisco to London Heathrow. There I have a 2.5 hour layover where I need to switch from my arrival in Terminal 1 to an Emirates flight in Terminal 3. Normally that wouldn't be a big deal.

However, I've learnt that there is a high likelihood that British Airlines will NOT check the luggage all the way through to the final destination. So I may need to collect my bags, go through immigration/customs and then switch terminals and check in all over again with Emirates.

Has anyone had to do this? how long did it take and what was the exact process? Did you literally have to go through arrivals section, go through immigration, customs, get on a transfer bus, etc. I'm very worried that 2.5 hours will no tbe enough for all that. Help!

Prices, please. or how do I find them out? I understand that gyms all expect us to ask and to barter for prices - but what can I expect to pay? I'd be interested in hearing about any two-person discounts I may receive. Thanks so much. I hope you can help.

Many years ago, I used a very cheap accomodation: a real estate company rented flat in houses in a very smart area - those flats were on their way to be refurbished and sold. In the meanwhile the real-estate company rented the flats: it was very cheap and clean even if of course there was - let's say rather basic furniture in the building... ;-) Is there anything similar now?
