Hi, travelling to Turkey next week, and want to avoid extra fees on travellers cheques. Can anybody suggest a good chain of banks?

A few weeks ago while coming home from Canada I got stopped. The customs people thought I was on drugs because I was shaking (I took a caffeine pill 30 mins before getting there because I kept falling asleep on the bus). Long story short, they thought I was either on drugs or nervous and thought I was hiding something (which I was neither). They frisked me, went through my belongings, and interrogated me for 45 minutes. They copied my information down. Why did they copy it down? Did they put me down as a suspect or no? I am just curious because I'm going to Canada again in a few weeks and I don't want any problems coming home once again.

Im considering moving to another country for awhile. I hear costa rica is nice and my US dollar will go far there. Im looking for anyone who has traveled and their experiences on environment, people, cultures and most important, where they felt their us dollar was worth the most.

Im aware that mexico is cheap. However, Im looking for info on another country that is worth seeing. If someone does have some great info on mexico, please let me know. Im not interested in cancuun and the like, something more laid back.

I actually have two:

Carmel, CA and Canon Beach, OR

Carmel because of it's white sand and aquamarine surf. Canon Beach because of the scenery (the huge Haystack Rock in the surf) and the awesome storms that come in from time to time.

I've been to Hawaii before (Honolulu's Waikiki Beach) and it was really nice, but it and other beaches that I've been to don't have quite the charachter that my favorite's do. Such a relaxing experience, and a perhaps the best place to go and reflect on your life.

So, what's your favorite beach? Elaborate, if you want to.

For me, in the USA, it was Yosemite. Out of the USA ( I was in the US navy ), in Iceland, it was Gollfoss ( tranlates Golden Falls in English ): The day I was at Gollfoss the place lived up to its name. The background was sparkling snow/glaciers. The sun shineing on the waterfall caused the fall to look like the pouring out of molten gold. Over the falls was the most vivid double rainbow. The whole scene was of greater beauty than I would have had capicity to imagin. The only thing I think could have been more beautiful was heaven itself.
