It depends what type of CD's you're burning onto. CD-R's can only be burnt to once effectively, (while you can fill up the disk at a later date, you can't write over it) whereas CD-RW's allow you to write over the data on the disk approximately 10,000 times on good quality discs.

It depends on how you set up your burning software the first time you burn onto the CD. Usually, you can choose an option that allows you to have a multiple session, or you can choose to close the disc to overburning.

If you've made an audo CD, then no, even with a cdrw, if you've just copied mp3s which you could play on say, a dvd player and you've left the session open, then yes you can. But blank cds are dirt cheap these days...

you can add to it only if the original session on the cd was not closed when it was created.
you can only overwrite it if it is a re-writable cd. you will need to use your burning software to format the disc first.

Nothing to add! You got some good answers. Look in your Help section of your burn program for description of "Closing" or " Finalizing". (same thing, just called different names, and that should explain in full.

Happy burning!

Both really, but you have to make sure it's a rewriteable cd.
