For me, in the USA, it was Yosemite. Out of the USA ( I was in the US navy ), in Iceland, it was Gollfoss ( tranlates Golden Falls in English ): The day I was at Gollfoss the place lived up to its name. The background was sparkling snow/glaciers. The sun shineing on the waterfall caused the fall to look like the pouring out of molten gold. Over the falls was the most vivid double rainbow. The whole scene was of greater beauty than I would have had capicity to imagin. The only thing I think could have been more beautiful was heaven itself.

Actually it's Gullfoss, gull is gold, but yes Gullfoss is very beautiful.
The most beautiful place I've ever been to is Aðalvík in Iceland. You can't drive there, you have to sail... or walk. No description will really make it justice, you just have to experience it, but I'll try. Beautiful nature, peace and quiet, white beach (which is not common), high mountains, a lot of so green vegetation. It's so pure.

Juneau, Alaska while hiking in the mountains that surround the Mendenhall Glacier. There is a wooded area with a creek that runs through it. You can hear the creek turn into a roaring waterfall not far away. There are several large boulders strewn about, and all of them and the forest floor are covered in thick, green moss. You can follow the creek down a bit and look out over the waterfall onto the glacier below.

The Mescalero Apache Reservation in the mountains of South central New Mexico. Waterfalls, tall pines, free roaming horses in the mountain meadows & just an occasional split rail fence. This place was made to be a movie set. The tribe has a resort on a lake there, called "The Inn of the Mountain Gods." The Mountain Gods definitely knew what they were doing!
