Please tell me more about advertisements. Please answer a few of these questions. What is the aim of the advert? Why do you think the image was included in the advert? This is a school project. I hopr you don't mind.

Coincidentally, i'm doing something similar.

Well a picture is usually worth a thousand words, so a picture usually already sums up what the article is about.

The Aim of the advert is to attract the target audience who is reading the article, though the target audience could be anybody.

Advertising has the goal to appeal to our five senses.

In print media this is accomplished best by appealing to Sight with images, not only of a product but possibly scenes of others enjoying that product. Consider an image of teens on the beach, or at a party, in alcoholic beverages.
Others with electronics.

Consider fast food where images of enticing foods appeal to our sense of Taste.

With Media, such as TV and Radio, all the above can be used, as well as stimulating our sense of Hearing. Not only by the spoken word but music, whether selling music itself, or accompanying the ad with the latest musical hits, further gaining the attention of the listener.

Appeal to our senses of Touch and Smell can still be utilized by images. Consider an image of steaming food dishes with people around a table expressing the aroma in words and actions. An ad showing a person on a soft mattress or feeling the thick pile in carpeting, clothing etc., appealing to our sense of Touch.

The written and spoken word creates desire with description and affordability. Pricing and financing are a part of this.

Desire for the latest Styles or Fashion appeals to our senses of Desire. Enticing us to feel good about ourselves or even "be better than everyone else", or associate ourselves with some celebrity. Consider the prices paid for tennis shoes, only to be "in", and be looked upon as one of the elite.
All clothing ads stress that desire.
Automobile ads appeal to all these desires to have the newest and latest options, with color, speed, performance, etc.

Not to mention Sex Appeal displayed in ads.
Advertising is a powerful and manipulative force in our lives, and it works.
