I have the opportunity to spend several months in New Zealand next year (Jan - March). I'd like to do some kayaking both on in-land lakes and rivers or in coastal areas. My goal is to see the natural beauties of NZ. I'm not as interested in shooting down death-defying white water rapids. Any suggestions for the best destinations?

I just have to say I had the best day ever! School was great! I aced all my exams because we got them back today! The girl I like is talking to me and this afternoon some people in my class invited me to go down to Oriental Bay and have ice creams! It was so fun lol

Im an Aussie. When I finish school, instead of going to our traditional 'schoolies' (bit like spring break for americans), I want to go to Queenstown in NZ because you can have just as much fun and drink as much booze as you want with your mates.

Even though this is going to happen in 2010, I want to start saving. So, how much would the following be??

Return airfares (from Brisbane)
Accomodation for a week (backpackers or somewhere extra cheap)
Bunge Jumping
Going down a hill in that big ball thing (tell me the name of that as well (please!))
Jet Boating
Round of Golf on a half decent course
White Water rafting
and anything else that may intrest me and my mates and incluse prices please.

And what would the best way to go with getting around as I know I won't be able to get car hire cheap enough as i will be under 25.

This will be in late November, early December

I think we're very lucky to live in such a country that is safe and have democracy but are our Ministers are at time very childish!

Mr Mallard and Mr Henare are a good example of this, their punch up yesterday was very childish. I'm 17 and I feel that I'm beyond this catty high school behavior. These are two fully grown men. So much for the anti-smacking law... If our Ministers can't even control their anger, what hope is their for the rest of the country to follow?

What do you all think? Are you disgusted by this?

I've been studying New Zealand for a little over 2 years and have fallen in love with it. I plan to move there in two years and hope to visit in May for my first time. I want to scout out where I'd like to move, etc. I'm looking for some advice on how to see the most for the least. I'm leaning towards living in Arrowtown so I could be close to queenstown to work without losing the scenery. I have a million questions outside of this one so if any citizen would be willing to help me, I'd really appreciate it. My main question now is, how would you see your country if you were me? Should I travel the country by train or rental car? I'm trying to keep my whole trip to around $2500 USD for 10 days... Thanks for the help.
