May be going in March 2007 for 10 days. Found a nice chain hotel in BA to stay at. Maybe going to Patagonia. Any tips, warnings, great places to see and experience? Kinda nervous because I don't know the area at all.

their countries and live "like kings" (on what would be considered middle-class savings/earning in the US/Canada) while they and their countrymen generally have so little and less opportunity to achieve "the good life?" Or, are these retirees/ex-patriates welcomed for bringing jobs and contributing somewhat to the local economies? Just wondering if their are any ex-Americans or ex-Canadians who have retired anywhere in Latin America (or the Caribbean is fine also) , or, if there are any "native" citizens of Latin American countries with any first-hand experiences/opinions, good or bad, on this type of situation?

Am going to South america in a few weeks without knowing for how long, will be backpacking. Only have a ticket to Bogota', plan on staying in South America till around March or so and then heading back to Europe.

I've heard that immigration sometimes demand proof of exit as a prerequisite for entering the country, but I don't want to commit myself to any tickets. If I produce 2 credit cards &bank statements (proving that I have plenty of cash to survive) will I be ok?

And if not, will I be given the chance to get online and buy a cheap ticket from Bogota to Quito, or will immigration simply deport me on the spot!?

I've had a penpal from there for some time, and I'm reseaching as much as I can about the area. I'd like to know is it hard living there? Are most of the people nice ? What foods does an average family or person eat. What kind of things do they have that Americans don't have and what do we have that they don't. I know about the drugs down there, so I don't want to here about that....Anything you can tell me would be good.......Thanks

Are there any shipping companies that allow passengers? I would like to visit Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Which is a land locked country, so I would have to take a ship to Brazil or Chile first and then go to Bolivia. I have the time, but not the desire to fly all the way there. Any suggestions?
