I went at that time in 2003. It was winter, but the temperature was similar to August in Britain.
The first 2 weeks were sunny - but the last week was very rainy.

I went there in September and it was around 30-32 degrees and a little rainy. I guess Aug/Sept is like spring time there, I know that summertime when the temp reaches the 40s is Nov-Feb. My family are brazillian living in Rio
