their countries and live "like kings" (on what would be considered middle-class savings/earning in the US/Canada) while they and their countrymen generally have so little and less opportunity to achieve "the good life?" Or, are these retirees/ex-patriates welcomed for bringing jobs and contributing somewhat to the local economies? Just wondering if their are any ex-Americans or ex-Canadians who have retired anywhere in Latin America (or the Caribbean is fine also) , or, if there are any "native" citizens of Latin American countries with any first-hand experiences/opinions, good or bad, on this type of situation?

Sorry Gustavo, you are absolutely correct and didn't mean to imply that everyone living in any Latin American nation is "poor." I've been to a few places in Mexico and other elsewhere in Latin America and know there are plenty of people in all economic classes- just like in the US and Canada. Just wondering how the people that come from the US and Canada and go to Latin American nations to retire "in style" are regarded/ treated by the people that were actually "from there."
