The Co2 gas hurts the atmosphere, and with all due respect, my German husband and I had a discussion about this...what is your opinion?

Please-this question is asked with all due respect to all Europeans. I really like my German residency, and would never do anything to offend anyone intentionally.

I saw a sign in a beer hall in Nurnberg the other day, it was part English, part German. I understand the words, but am just trying to remember one word. The sign was as follows:

Its nice to be "Preiss",
Its higher to be "Bayer",
But ??? to be "Mittel Frank"

Obviously, each line rhymes. I think the word I have shown as ??? was something like Gotgeshank or Gotdanke. Something about being god's gift or thank god for being "Mittel Frank" (Franconian).

Thanks!

I am going to be living in heidelberg for 4 months to study there and i will have weekends to travel, as well as about 10 days when i first arrive. i would love to spend the weekends travelling around germany, especially the moselle river (vinyards), rhine river (castles). I would also like to travel to Amsterdam for a few days before classes start. I looked online and a Train will cost about $160, is there a cheaper way to get around? Maybe busses? Is there a web site anyone can reccomend?

I'm going there soon. By 'fun and authentic things' I mean things which are unique to that particular city.

ie NEW YORK (ride in yellow taxi, hansom cab in Central Park, ascend Statue of Liberty) BUENOS AIRES (dance the tango, drink yerba mate)

But what can you do in Munich which is unique to Munich?

I'm going to be spending a lot of time there, granted a few years in the future but I imagine it won't change that much.

By that time I will speak fluent -or nearly fluent- German. My accent might not be so hot, but I'll be understandable.

What are some general cultural norms I should know? I am by nature a very quiet person, I don't say much and when I do I speak softly by anyone's standards -I have had this verified by Scandinavian relatives- so the loud American thing won't apply. Clotheswise I have always gone for simple, solid, neutral, earthy colors. I figure that can't be too offensive.

However, I'd like to know German table manners -specifics-, pub etiquette, bus/metro etiquette, and specifically anything to do with bikes since I will be biking across Germany.
