I am traveling to Germany. I already bought a train ticket which gets me to all my stops but two. I need to get from Berlin to Potsdam and back, which is about a 36 min distance. The other place I have to get is from Dusseldorf to Dortmund and back, which is a 54 min distance. Does anyone have any idea how to travel? Or some good websites or somthing. Thank you.

I will be in Amsterdam for 10 days and I would like to travel around Germany for a few days, but I am not sure which places to go.
I hear that Cologne is a must! But I am not sure what others places could be interesting.
I will be travelling next month and with my 7 month old son! Any tips?

We are thinking of hiring a car and wonder if it is safe to drive, from Frankfurt down to Heildelberg then along the Romantic Road to Oberstaufen about 180 klms from Munich. We would also appreciate any information on use of snow tyres and chains if that is necessary at this time.

I'm hopefully going to be an extern at the Ratskeller from July to December and I need a place to stay. I'm supposed to make about 1200 EUR/month and I need a good price on a place fairly close to work so I'll have enough money to pay for insurance and airfare and such.

Just wondering if there is an actual guided tour or tourguide book with the sites where the stories first originated.
(Like the tower where Rapunzel let down her hair.)

I had heard of one so many years ago...and I have asked my travel agent, who didn't know of any...

Thought maybe someone out there may have an idea or link or some good information.

Thanks for your time!

I know that you could spend a week there and have a great time, but any suggestions for someone with only a few days?

I have only 2 and 1/2 days to explore Munich and the Romantic Road. I will be starting from Munich. My plan is as follows:

Day 1 - (Only a half day because I don't arrive in Munich until noon). Spend the day exploring Munich.

Day 2 - Get up really early and drive down to visit Schloss Neuschwanstein (1 and 1/2 hour drive?). Then drive back up the Romantic Road to Munich stopping at any towns of interest on the way such as Fussen and Pfaffenwinkel. Then spend the rest of the day exploring Munich (if any time is left?).

Day 3 - Leave Munich. Drive North up the Romantic Road, stopping at Dinkelsbuhl and Nordlingen, ending up at Rothenburg. Spend a few hours exploring Rothenburg. Continue on to Stuttgart (1 and 1/2 hour drive?) where I will be spending the night. (Will I have time to stop at Dinkelsbuhl and Nordlingen or should I skip them?)

My main concern is that driving times will be much longer than they appear due to traffic. Should I be conerned about this?

I want to rent a car in Germany, but I am on a tight budget and looking for the most basic economy car. However, it must be an automatic, and, so far, the only automatic cars I can find appear to be moderate to luxury models only and pretty expensive. Is there a reason for this? Do you know of a car rental place in Munich where I can rent an economy vehicle with automatic transmission? Thanks!

I'm going to Germany in the next upcoming months. I'm staying with my German freinds that I'm really close to. I've never traveled outside of Ohio. Even though I have already graduated from college. I was wondering what kind of culture difference is there? What kind of manners are different? edict? Things I need to know about Germany? I've never traveled much so I really don't know much. I've talked with this with my freinds but their details are usually not really descriptive.

I will be there in May. I have the option of going on Friday May 11th or Sunday May 13th.

What day of the week is it least busiest? Are weekends really busy? How long are the line-ups on weekends?
