I have noticed that in Pfungstadt there is NO radar controll at all, none of those green boxes, or any other devices that could slow vehicles down. Naturally without any kind of controlls, cars, trucks, buses, whatever fly thru the town ignoring the 30 or 50 kph speed limit. Anybody know why this is allowed? Besides the danger of speeding it makes for a loud town, for example Bergstrasse sounds like the Autobahn. I was just wondering if anybody could explain why Pfungstadt tolerates this?

I'm going to the Monchengladbach Carnival, but cannot do without my hairdryer etc. I have the 2 pin plug converters, like I needed for Spain and Portugal, but not sure if that's the correct ones for Germany. I am applying to Duisburg-Essen university and if I get accepted, I would start my course in September 2007. All I need is a little bit of info. Anything would help.

I lived in England for several years and I am familiar with Europe and its weather, but I wonder about the German life-style. Do I need to know German (fluently) or can I get there and learn it? Do most people speak English? How is the health care? Is there anything especial I need to bring with me?

I would appreciate it if you give me any kind of information. Anything you think might be useful. It doesn't have to be necessarily about Duisburg either.

Here's the situation.... my dad-in-law (who generally hates travelling) is travelling, and will have a stopover at the Frankfurt airport. Apparently, he is ready to change his flight (already booked) because he is convinced that the airport staff at Frankfurt airport do not speak English, and he is afraid that he will not be able to communicate in case he has any problems. Could someone please help me out and tell me if there are staff members available to assist only-english speaking travellers at Frankfurt airport!

- Is it true if I come to Germany for few months , I must only speak Dutech , or people will not even reply to me??
