Munich is a great city to live. It's culturally diverse, as it's not far from several of Germany's southern border neighbors, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, just to name a few. They offer a wide range of sporting events, they have European League basketball and football teams, and of course highly ranked soccer and hockey teams. It has a rich musical heritage, as some of Europe's most famous composers hail from Munich. There are plenty of events, cultural, nightlife, etc. for traditional lifestyles, and they are very tolerant of "alternate lifestyles," so there's more than enough to do to keep one's self occupied.
I will be going there in May to attend my nephew's wedding. He lives in Mainburg, a few miles to the north, but I plan to spend allot of time in Munich while I'm there.
I would suggest that you simply enter "Munich Cultural Events" into a search engine, and see what comes up. Here is one entry below.

You should be jumping for joy -
Entertainment - whatever you want, from classic to Modern
Clubs - whatever you want, rock, country, jazz, naked women or stylish.
Culture - you can live and breathe it. It doesn't get much better and there is a terrific variety as well.
Friends - those you'll have to find on your own.
If you don't like Munich, you won't like much of anything else in Germany - but it is pretty pricey, so bring a few bucks.

I also suggest you to visit the official website of München (Munich) at http://www.muenchen.de - there's also a link in English on that site!
And, many people in München hate it when you call that town "Munich" in English....just say München! ;-)
Greetings from Germany!
