in your a British citizen arriving in the Netherlands (specifically Amsterdam) with the intention of staying permanently, do you need to register for any kind of permit of card of residence or anything? I know that in theory you are entitled to live and work there but surely you need to register this? because surely you need a Dutch national insurance/tax number if you intend to work there?

where is a good place to go in Amsterdam to ask about these issues, Police Station? British Consulate? some kind of municipal building?

Do many Dutch feel as though their country is over-run by foreigners? I've been to Amsterdam half a dozen times, and there are a lot of non-Dutch there. That makes me sad. If the NL lets itself be overrun by non-Dutch, the inate character of Holland will be lost. I hope that doesn't happen.

I'm off to Amsterdam for the third time next week. I've already done all the culture (Anne Frank, Van Gough, Rembrandt, The Sex Museum) so now I really want to experience the other side of Amsterdam (Cheap beer, Weed, Sex). i am about to graduate and dont really have any ambishion but to just to chili and relax and yeah work hard to make a living but i need something that is not legal in the states to keep me going. so i would like to move to amsterdam and get a good job. i am probably gonna check it out before i move there but some living info or how to get a citizen ship would be nice. and pass ports and basically all the things you have to do to move to amsterdam, like how much a ticket , round trip would be. and just common amsterdam knowledge.

we are going as part of a coach trip to see the tulips etc and have decided to 'go it alone' for a day.sunday 15 april. i would like to take my wife out somewhere interesting, maybe amsterdam direction..is the flower market open on a sunday?what is the situation regarding trains..it looks like the train station is fairly close to the hotel so is the obvious choice. do the local networks have a 'rover ' style ticket for train tram bus networks? can anyone recomend a 'must see' venue? we've been to the red light district and the canal trips and the sex museum etc. thanks.
