I'm going on my first cruise in a few weeks and was curious about traveler's checks and money in foreign countries. Would just cash be acceptable and safe (about 1,000$), or should i mix it up with travelers checks?

Also i wouldn't think i would need to convert some money to the peso for example, b/c i'm not sure how much $ i'm going to spend on the island's anyway. What do you all think?

i'm going to cozumel, costa maya, belize and nassau.
Thanks for the help.

We may have a 12 month old baby with us as we are in the process of fostering. (We booked our holiday before we started this process)

Our worry is that some of the trips may be too much for him. Some of the coach trips (excursions) to the Pyramids etc are very long journeys and we are not sure if its the best place to take him? I am not worried about the rest of the holiday as I can keep him shaded on the ship etc... its just that we would like to go on the trips but not sure if a 12 month old could handle the journey and heat?

Has anyone ever taken a baby/small child on a cruise and how did you find it?

Many thanks in advance

I have always wanted to go on a cruise, My problem is the most I see online about them are the ones that start and finish at the same port.

I know I can get off at any port and stay but that seems like not a good idea since i am paying for the whole trip.

What I am wanting to do is fly overseas, like Italy or Greece and take a cruise back home to the states, like Florida since I am with in driving distance of Fla, I can rent a car and drive to nashville where I would be flying from. Which is were my car would be parked.

I can not find any info about what I want to do online. I dont mind going into a travel agent but I was wanting to get all the infor before hand or a reallly good idea of what I want, like which cruise lines are the best and which port I would really like to leave from and which air port I should fly into that is closet to the port.

Anyone got any ideas. ?

I admit it (as some have mailed me asking...) I work for Holland America Line (HAL) as a Deck Officer.
Although we are all part of the same organisation, Carnival Corp, I have to admit, those of us that work on HAL ships often 'look down' on our Carnival Cruises collegues as our...erm.. poorer cousins.

But the thing is, other than lending some much needed spare navigation equipment to a Carnival vessel one day, ive never actually been around their ships.

For those that have sailed with both Companies a question - we in HAL think we provide a more professional, initmate if not exclusive service than Carnival, but the thing is, do we have a right to think that? Are we any different/better?, or have we too been sucked into the mass market, cost saving, few frills cruising that has made Carnival so popular with the masses?

I am a 1st time cruiser. Went straight from college to work and now after 5 years I am going on my 1st vacation, a cruise with some friends. I want to know what stuff does anyone recommend, we will be docked in Bermuda for 2 days, so I'm interested in hearing what others have done.

I want to go on a cruise with some of my friends, but all of the ones I have found say someone in your party has to be over 21. I want to go to the Carribean, but I am flexible. I would prefer to get a good price, but at this point I am willing to pay whatever it costs.

I'm writing a book and in it the main character goes on a cruise and I need to know how many security guards there would be in total on a large cruise ship (about 3000 passengers) - if anyone helps I'll mention you in my acknowledgements! Thanks

I know when you are cruising it is. Is it when you get off to go into the city, can you go back to the port and eat on the ship and get off? How does that work? I have never been on a cruise, I want to go on Soverign of the Seas with Royal Carribean? What should I expect, how is the trip? What extra expenses should we expect? We are going to Cococay and Nassua- what is there to see?

My family consists of mom and dad ,a 17 year old guy (me), a 15 year old boy, and an 11 year old girl. My parents are thinking of going on either Carnival or Disney, but i looked at the websites and youtube vids (post your vacations for all the world to see!!!) and Carnival seems for more of an older generation, and I think Disney is just assinizing, with Mickey and friends constantly surrounding you. Royal Carribean looks perfect, but i don't know. Give me your imput, expereiences, youtube vids, etc., and be brutally honest. We need a damn vacation!!!
