I am taking my girlfriend on a Harbor Dinner Cruise for her birthday. It'll be her first birthday since we started dating and I want to make the most of everything. She is getting flowers at work, so that's covered and we'll be staying over-night and going to the beach the next day. -- She's never been on a boat before but loves the ocean and is excited about going on the cruise ride.

I have applied to get a passport in April and I am going on a cruise on June 30 and I check my passport but all it says is it is currently being processed it has been saying that for 1 month! Some friends of mine just returned from a cruise to Alaska. They claimed that it was like a floating senior citizen home. A typhoon hit near the area where they were cruising and all the people with the oxygen tanks and walkers were stumbling around the ship. One overweight woman fell and was rolling down the hallway of the ship. I don't want to be mean but this doesn't sound like an elegant vacation...should I not consider cruising? Did they have an unusual cruising experience?

Is it neccessary to book shore excursions when you go on a cruise? My husband and I are going to Key West and Nassau on the Carnival Celebration. Can't we just walk around and hang out on the beaches and goof off on our on for the day? Or do the ships port where it's impossible to find your way around or what? This is the first time either of us have been on a cruise.

I haven´t been cruising for a long time. I´ve been invited to the Sovereing of the Seas in July 2007 and was wondering which is the best way to stay connected? Do they have computers on board? Is it worth to take my laptop? What kind of internet acces do they have?
