Love Carnival they are great fun, you must be on the Inspiration out of Tampa, I have been on that ship, you will be greatly spoiled by the staff, from your room steward to the servers in the dining room, I never miss a night in the dinning room the food is so much better, and there in nothing like being pampered!
there will one formal night, and they have beautiful photo opps too that night they are very elegant. if you want to bring more dressy thing for the night go for it it! it is your vacation and many dress differently at night (formal only on formal night) I love dressing up at night.
summer dress will be great, or even jeans for the day whatever you want just enough for the 5 days depending on how much you plan on changing, remember you beauty supplies and comfortable shoes for walking on days at port

Yes, on the 4 day cruise you'll only have 1 formal night, so only 1 really nice dress would be needed. On the other nights for the dining room they don't like you wearing jeans so the casual summer dresses would be good. There will be a deck party as well, probably Cozumel night depending on what time you sail, so a fun outfit for that is good. Hmm, not much else really, Captains cocktail party is usuallly on the formal night so you'll be covered there. Other then that, just shorts, skirts etc...
Hope this helps.

I have been on many cruises and here 's what I recommend.
The dress on ship is casual all day until 6:00PM. So take swim wear, shorts, sandals, beach shoes, your snorkel equipment if you have it, sun glasses and sun screen, lotions, a cap or big hat for the sun, a book if you are a reader, your music player, sneakers and clothes to workout in if you like to use the gym, your camera, and other personal toiletries.
After 6:00 PM they request that you wear "sports casual" attire. That's attire that you would expect a person to wear in a business office, shirt with a collar, slacks, skirt, blouse, etc. You can still wear shorts and swim wear in the pools and spas but not in public areas like dining rooms and restaurants, show rooms, bars, casino, etc.
Most 7-day cruises have two formal nights when you can wear your best stuff and get pictures taken, and maybe meet the ship’s Captain. Your 4-day cruise will likely have just one formal night. The formal nights are REQUESTED not required attire. But most people do dress up in a tux for men and a long dress (any color) for women. Some men just wear a suit and tie and some women wear a nice dress but not a gown. You will not be denied access to the dining room or anything else if you choose not to dress up. (we usually take off the formal stuff after dinner and pictures anyway).
Its best to pack using soft-sided luggage because with space limited in your cabin it fits under the beds better if its not hard sided luggage. Take a small carry-on bag for the last night of the cruise. On the last evening you will be required to put your luggage outside your cabin by about 2:00 AM so that they can start taking it down to the lower deck for offloading the next morning. So you will need a small bag for your toiletries and and your clothes that you sleep in.

On a 4 day cruise there will be one formal night. Wear something very nice like a full dress or gown. Other nights you can do sports dress or office casual depending on what they have in the days planner. Sometimes its just casual. Pant suits were a no no on formal night and no bathing suits or scruffy clothes like torn jeans and shorts were allowed. Pack two of everything per day. 2 Undies, 2 socks, 2 hose, two or more different shoes, two different tops, two different bottoms and two bathing suits. If your going to any beach on any island get a pair of sea shoes. Cozumel is H-O-T so wear something very light and comfortable.

Yes there should be 1 formal night in which a "little black dress" would be just fine...
pack :
2 bathing suits
flip flops
some shorts and tees or tanks ( for daytime attire)
sunscreen
tanning lotion
camera
some capris or skirts for evening
some cutesy tops
sandals or
sneakers if you plan on using the gym or doing walking/hiking excursions
I mentioned the lil black dress already
a sweater it gets cold in the lounges and theaters

I got this off of the Carnival website:
The first thing to remember is that you are on vacation and that you are on board one of our "Fun Ships" to have a good time. The second thing to remember is to travel light. If you keep those two things in mind then you should do fine.
Casual attire and resort wear is the order of the day both on board and in port. Shorts, slacks, sundresses, blouses, etc., are in line for women. Clothing for men is just as casual. You should bring a pair of rubber-soled sandals or sneakers to wear on deck and a pair of good walking shoes. You might also want to consider bringing along a sweater or jacket for cool evenings and inexpensive rain gear in case of a sudden shower. Women may want to bring along a hat or a scarf. You'll have a chance to dress up on two nights during 7 day or longer cruises (ONE NIGHT ON SHORTER CRUISES) for the Captain's Cocktail Party and the Gala Farewell Dinner. On the other evenings you can dress casually for dinner (no shorts or tank tops.)
For those not wanting to dress up, the Lido resteraunts are open nightly and have a casual dress code. Formal Wear: tuxedo; suit and tie; sport coat; tie and slacks; evening gown; cocktail dress; pantsuit. Casual Resort Wear: sport shirts and slacks; dresses; skirts; pantsuit; capri pants. NOTE: Shorts, t-shirts, tank tops, and bathing attire are not permitted in the dining room during dinner.
This is all I could find and I hope it helps!

My rule of thumb for myself is that despite the cost of the cruise itself is, I double it for the authentic, finished, very final value. I very practically in no way drink, do no longer use the spa centers, and don't purchase lots. however, I stay interior the Midwest, which means airfare, airport parking, transfers between the deliver and airport the two procedures, counsel, and a small volume of money for the on line casino. I additionally could board the canine and the cat, yet that isn't portion of what I determine as a value whether it incredibly is . . . One place to shop assorted money or bypass broke on a deliver, particularly with toddlers, is the bar bill -- soda pop is often one extra value, merely like alcohol! you need to purchase "soda taking part in cards" for limitless soda pop for the guy named on the cardboard (which you would be able to no longer bypass around or use to get sodas for siblings). however, the taking part in cards could be costly, so in case your toddlers could be happy with milk, juice, and tea, which will help. approximately Cozumel -- in case you do no longer do a shore day holiday you will locate that shore will mean a likely countless string of memento shops and highway distributors in Sam Miguel, the place the deliver will dock or anchor. I recommend you seem into the shore day holiday to the aquarium/water park -- that is surprising, with lots to work out and do!
