Yes, You can take Trans-Atlantic cruises. Cunard cruise line runs them regularly out of New York City. Several other cruise lines also have one way cruises, usually at the time of year when they do what is called "repositioning'. For example, a ship that sails in the Caribbean for the winter will be repositioned to the UK or Spain, to making cruises to the Baltic countries (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Russia, Poland) during the late spring and summer months, or to do Mediterranean cruises. These cruises may run from Miami or Ft Lauderdale to the UK or Spain.

Just go to the cruise lines listed below and search for "transatlantic cruises".

Several lines offer one way cruises between Vancouver and Whittier/Anchorage AK during the Alaska cruise season.

You can also find some one way Trans-Pacific cruises on Holland America and Princess as they shift vessels around.

Holland America, Princess, Royal Caribbean and a few other lines offer one way sailings through the Panama Canal between Miami or Fort Lauderdale and San Diego or Los Angeles.

As mentioned above, Cunard is the only line that offers regularly scheduled Trans-Atlantic service between New York and London (Southampton). All other lines offer these sailings as part of repositioning cruises.

I suggest discussing this further with a travel agent that specializes in cruises. They can tell you if there are itineraries that meet you and your family's desires. I recommend Cruise Planners at 888-286-9827 (www.mycruiseplanner.net) they are extremely experienced, represent all of the major cruise lines, offer the same deals as the cruise lines, and they don't charge any fees....
