What is the weather like? I don't want to go when it's super hot or very rainy. Are there a lot of tourists during that time? I also don't want to go if there's too many major events going on during then...

Thanks so much

My hubby and me are going to Melbourne Australia end of May. I dont know the weather there at that time. Some says bring warm clothes and some says its not so cold at that time cause its not winter yet and dont have to bring warm clothes. We are going touring all over Melbourne. So what should we bring and wear at that time?

Hey all. Visiting my girlfriend for a month this upcoming May in melbourne...she's australian born and raised, but i have never been there (she's always come to the US b/c im still in school). long story of how we met, how it works, etc but it does that's all that matters.

anyway, she is going to be working semi full time when i am there..so in the spirit of being productive i was just wondering what things there are to do by yourself during the daytime in that time of year.

if it helps, i'm american but am not entirely clueless to oz culture or melbourne geography. she lives in the monash area so i think most things are pretty accesible. but i am on a budget...esp since I'm spending $$$ just to get down there! my girlfriend would be content to sit on a beach for a week straight haha...but i like to be kind of active. though i do love good nature spots.

also, i'm really into music so any good live night spots would also be greatly appreciated!

thanks a lot!

We are going to melbourne next month. Our flight departs at 6 AM, and the day before we gonna go along the GOR, so what we might do is returning the car (rented) at the airport at around 10ish (as it is the only place open til that time) and then stay at the airport til morning.

So the question is:
Is Avalon Airport open 24 hours ? Is there anyplace next to the airport that we can stay for few hours ?
We know Geelong is close but taking a taxi to Geelong and back plus an extra night of accommodation probably cost too much.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I am looking to go to Melbourne next year, but want to go in a good time...where the weather is good, tickets aren't too expensive and every place isn't super crowded. Also, any recommendations of fun things to do would be a bonus!

Being out of towners i would need stuff hopefully close to Collins st and Buckhurst St (Sth Melb)because of partners meetings. I would probably be lost otherwise. I would need somewhere for meal/bottle time, change rooms (as I have been with oldest at 4 mths and only found one place for nappy change) and entertainment to keep happy. I leave early tomoro and am worried of keeping busy...last time seemed hard with a baby eg baby friendly
