I spose that depends on where your sitting - in upright chairs probably uncomfortable - in cabins or berths - yeah that would be nice, you can have a sleep but why would you want to miss the beautiful scenery all the way down the coast.

I'd say it's just an ordinary journey, and when travelling during the day and not overnight it's more convenient than taking a bus. Of course flying is much faster, but I enjoy looking at the scenery and if you don't mind spending some 10 hrs (if I remember it correctly) on a train it's by far not the worst kind of travelling!

I haven't done it for over 20 years but I had a sleeper when I did it.
I think the comfort levels would be OK but I'd prefer to spend a little extra and fly.

nothing beats a plane!! been rattling by car, bus, and truck of any description, of which i personally have driven, in all sorts of weather, i would imagine a train ride would be just as comfortable as driving a fully loaded semi down THE HUME, no thanks, NO MORE!!

Very comfortable with a sleeper; unpleasant without one.
