AUSTRALIANS ONLY please..

Has anyone any experience with the Optus Home Cap type plans? If so what was it like? How much did you end up paying(or do you pay) per month?

I have a $39 home cap after being enticed to Optus from AAPT. They promised me the $39 instead of the usual $49 because I have been a long time customer of theirs with my mobile. Routinely however (like every month) my home phone bill exceeds $100!! I live alone, make bugger all calls internationally or to mobiles and only a few local calls. I can't understand why it is so high.

Has anyone else had a smiliar experience and if so, what did you do to resolve it? I am locked in for 24 months incidentally and can't simply switch carriers.

Its always been a daydream, but now that I feel like I have the means to do something like this, I may actually just pick up and move.

I was brought up and live in a big US city and a little bored and tired of American attitude and ignorance. I have an advanced degree in technology, I am female in my late 20's and know little to nothing about Australia, except fo the Aussie tourists that visit my big city are the nicest most intelligent genuine people I've ever known. I'm also getting older and bit tired of my crowded big noisy city. I want to be in a diversere cultural city but close to natural spaces.

Care to fill me in? What should I be reading and where should I be visiting to get a better idea?

I have no real idea so i'd like to know which would be best, she has certificates in child care so can work in that and is moving in with me upon arrival, and yes I would be prepared to "sponser" her on a partner visa.

If anyone can tell me what visa would be best and whether to apply for it after arrival or before that would be much appreciated.

I'm coming to Nelson NZ at Xmas so wanted to get some views on the place. I have already lived in many NZ cities. Just send me whatever answer you want/think rather than ask me to be more specific.

Thanks

I'm thinking of going on a Contiki tour to New Zealand in the summer of 2007. I went on a Contiki to Europe this summer for 2 weeks and had a blast. Can anyone who's been on any of the Contiki New Zealand tours tell me which excursions are worth going on? What are the pros and cons of the whole trip? Which cities did you enjoy most and why?

I have seen all the travel brochures for New Zealand, and it looks amazing. But before I go there, I want to know about the people, the culture. I want to know how people work and live. If anyone is from New Zealand, and doesn't mind telling me about their home, let me know.

I am traveling to Australia in the following week, and I need to know what the exchange rate is.
Is it good?
For any of you that live in Australia, how are the prices of goods, like clothes, food, etc.? Would you say expensive, could be cheaper, or pretty affordable?
Thanks in advance!
