They stopped selling them in shops years ago.. A sad day it was.
They actually sell them now in show bags. I have been enjoying them recently, a friend of mine bought me a bertie beetle showbag a few days ago at the Melbourne Show on now. If you're in Melbourne, get your a#se down there and buy up, it's the only chance you'll get (i have actually seen them at local fairs/shows as well, so you may get another chance)..
I always think of Russell Gilberts skit on Hey Hey It's Saturday (i'm showing my age now) when he's being the kid going "I WANT A BERTIE BEETLE", possibly his only memorable moment..

I love Bertie Beetles - I bought 20 bags (at $2 each) at the Sydney Royal Easter Show this year, and thats been the only time I've seen them for years.. And I didn't share with anyone!
They are a nice crunchy, but the chocolate is my favourite!
Yum, I'll have to have one when I get home!

You can actually buy them other then the showbags. There is this shop in Melbourne that you go to to buy food for like milk bars and stuff. You buy them in bulk. You have to have a special card for this though. I have also seen them occasionally in Coles.

Yeah it seems as if you can only get them at the Ekka which is a shame. They were good.
