It offends me because they only think about the squatter people and dirty places in the Philippines, but people should think that there are better places in the Philippines and not everyone is poor. On tv, this american woman was doing a documentary on the Philippines saying, "The Philippines is a poor and dirty country, The filipino people have to dig through trash dumps to live. This makes me sooo mad. The US has some really shitty looking places it self.

If the P.I. plans on improving the environment for the people especially the children so they have a clean place to grow and learn, why dont the government put garbage cans so that people can be disiplined enough to throw there waste away rather than dumping them where ever they want without fear of persecution, this practice is a small step to improvement not just for sanitation reasons but in a bigger scale...

Some Japanese Citizens are in Baguio to search for the treasure of Yamashita so they go inside the tunnels hoping that the treasures are somewhere there. That would be no problem but they brought along some technologically advanced equipment made in japan good for mining. So at the same time, they do mine illegally and benefit from the minerals of the country. What can make it worse is that they can possibly mine whenever they want and wherever they want with the equipment they have. Without the action of the government, this could lead to a bigger danger. Many communities in the cordillera have sunk due to rampant mining activities and this one is also a possibility in Baguio and its neighboring towns...

In short, what can we do with these treasure-desperate Japanese citizens to stop them from these activities and what government office should this one be directed to? Would they even care?

And in case you also know about a cheap but clean local guest house or hostel (nothing touristic) to stay, the info will be most welcome.

I would like to immerse myself in the local way of life, without the western sophistication. Thank you for any information.

I know it is recommended to get them, but not required. If I am in the Philippines visiting for just 10 days, should I be safe and get Hepatitus A and Typhoid shots, or is it very unlikely I will catch these on my stay if I stick to drinking bottled water? Basically, what are the odds of me getting either one without having immunizations?
