I am thinking of taking a tour to Tanzania which would include Gombe, Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti....Never been outside US and would appreciate any tips or thoughts, great time or disappointments, of people who have already been there.

Proportionately, flights from the least developed countries to the developed countries and vise-versa are "throat-cutting" i.e. compared to flights between most western countries.
However, the distance from a number of these underdeveloped countries are but a "stone-throw" from the western countries.

It's always been my dream to work in Africa (central if possible). I'm a Project Manager at home and i'm also a qualified ESOL teacher. I need to earn enough to keep my house, pay bills etc at home while I'm away. Most of the jobs i've seen so far are either voluntary or academic - requring at least a PhD. I have a BA in English and at the moment i manage a Day Centre for families in temporary accommodation in London. Any advice on how to get going would be much appreciated. Perhaps from people who've done a similar thing

Thanks

I have heard it's the wet season - will this make camping miserable? Will animals be harder to see?
Someone recommended Botswana to me - is this the best option or somewhere better at this time of year.
Lastly, archipelagos off Mozambique - any good at end of Nov?

I know someone in Benin trying to get out. They have been scared off with the idea they will be incarcerated if they try to leave without providing proof of having at least 2700USD. I understand there are scams coming out of africa using the BTA as a vechile. However some information has come back to me indicating the BTA does exist in so far as you may be asked to provide proof that you can finacially sustain yourself when you reach your destination. What I am curious about is if anyone knows the facts about the BTA? Or knows of any way around the legislation if it at all exists.

My friends and I will be travelling to Lome from Lagos for a getaway break. We are wondering how we can catch some fun in an environment that the language, culture and way of life is different from ours. We are trying to be adventurous by exploring a french speaking nation.
