Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting early Monday, his limousine sprayed with bullets in downtown Denver just hours after the team was elimated from the NFL playoffs.

Team spokesman Jim Saccomano said police called him about 3 a.m. from the scene and told him three people had been shot, and the 24-year-old Williams had been killed.

A little after 2 a.m., a white Hummer limousine was fired on from a vehicle that pulled up along its side, police spokesman Sonny Jackson said.

Doug Flutie had played all season long until coach Wade Phillips started Rob Johnson for the last game. Initially Phillips said it was to rest Flutie before the playoffs, but then he came out the next week and named Johnson the starter for the Bills against the Titans. Then the Music City Miracle happened and everybody just forgot Flutie got benched. I mean seriously, Flutie wasn't having a bad season or anything. And then he plays every game until the final regular season game then gets benched. It seems like everybody forgot about this. I just wanted to see if anybody else remembers.

The Colts start 9-0, setting an NFL record for consecutive undefeated streaks, then stop defending the run (thanks to losing FOUR safeties and 2 DT's to injuries) to finish 2-4, including a first-ever loss to HOU.

JAX starts 8-5, and has a lock on a wildcard spot, then finish 0-3, including the last game against KC with a wildcard on the line for the winner.

Denver starts 7-2, seemingly with a world class defense, then finishes 2-5, including an overtime loss to the 49ers with a playoff spot on the line.
