Earlier today, Commissioner Stern imposed the following fines and penalties on the participants in Saturday night's Knicks Nuggets brawl at Madison Square Garden:

* The Knicks and Nuggets organizations have each been fined $500,000 each as a result of the altercation.
* Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony has been suspended for 15 games.
* Knicks guard Nate Robinson has been suspended for 10 games.
* Nuggets guard J.R. Smith has been suspended for 10 games.
* Knicks guard Mardy Collins has been suspended for six games.
* Knicks forward Jared Jeffries has been suspended for four games.
* Knicks center Jerome James has been suspended for one game for leaving the bench during an on-court altercation.
* Nuggets forward Nene has been suspended one game for leaving the bench during an on-court altercation.

Was Commissioner Stern right - are these penalties fair?

Or are they too lenient?

Or are they too harsh?

I recently acquired a sports jersey that was autographed by a famous athlete. The people who gave me the jersey claim it is a genuine autograph. Is this jersey worthless without a certificate of authenticity (proving the signature is real). Is there a way to obtain such a certificate?

They seem to really be playing well and they have a lot of depth! They are very strong inside and Alando Tucker and Brian Butch are almost impossible to match up with man to man. . .. Tucker because he is so athletic and Butch because he is freakishly talented outside for a 7 footer. Their young players are also growing up quite rapidly and it goes without saying they have one of the best coaches in the game. Their two games with Greg Oden and Ohio State should be awesome as Ohio State is very talented and Gred Oden's limited performance with a broken hand has been nothing short of amazing!!!

Let's consider Isiah's season so far. He ripped ESPN analyst Greg Anthony over criticism for drafting Renaldo Balkman in the first round. He called out the Pacers for celebrating too enthusiastically after their early-season victory at Madison Square Garden. He had a confrontation with the Spurs' Bruce Bowen. He's taken Knicks fans to task for booing. And now this incident. Isaiah should start worrying about his own team instead of other people.

Are the penalties for the altercation that occurred Saturday between the Knicks and the Nuggets a big deal? Is $500,000 a lot of money to be spending on an altercation or is that just chump change? Is missing a few games a big deal?

For all basketball players: After a free throw, you are supposed to go to the other end of the court, right? Well, what if you don't run down there? I mean, I have seen some of you (especially high school and college) that slide down to the other end: pick up the front part of your foot and then slide backwards then do it with the other foot. How do you do this and how can I practice it so that I may use the technique in a real game?
