I am an atheist, just thought I'd mention that now.

An idea recently occured to me. Some would say that heaven is a place were people feel great all the time for all eternity. And since God is supposed to be all-powerful, we don't truly know the depths of happiness one would feel in heaven and just how long an eternity is. I recently asked a question on the nature of heaven/hell and the concept would only make sense if God was all-powerful and we simply couldn't fathom the true nature of heaven. So I was just wondering what came first, the notion of heaven, where one would be happy for ever and ever, or the concept of an all-powerful being who could do anything anyone could imagine and then some.

I guess this is sort of like a chicken/egg question.

I have been an atheist for as long as I can remember. About two years ago my hubby was thinking about getting involved with Christianity. I knew that we would have a hard time making our marriage work, having such different beliefs, so I tried to see things his way.

I read and studied the Bible. I "talked" to God and asked for some kind of sign. I said that if He was there, that I was open and ready to accept him, and that I would like to believe in Him.

That was over two years ago. Today I am a stronger, more active atheist than I was then. I simply couldn't force myself to believe in something that I just don't believe in.

Why do so many people think that people could believe in God if they only tried? Have you ever considered the fact that we atheists are unable to feel any differently?

PS -- the hubby studied a lot too; he believes in God still, but is not a Christian.

I want to start a student led Bible club at my public school. (USA) How can I do it and how do I avoid trouble & harrassment? What can I do and what can't I do? Can Christian teachers help out? Can we pray and sing songs? Thanks for your input, ideas and web links.

After the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ, and Judgement Day.

Jesus Bonds Satan a 1000 years.

I know only God know the answer to this question, but to you think that this 1000 years could be a time to see if Satan will repent?

I believe God know all things, and knows Satan will never repent that where Hell comes in, but I have to wonder about the 1000 years?

Almost every other country can have them. Isnt it legal for them to produce their own weapons if they feel like it? Since when do they have to obey the USA and Britain and other countries. I know the main reason they dont want Iran to have them is because they think theyll use them against Israel and Israel has said "Nuke us, we'll whipe you off the face of the earth." Israel has the 6th largest pile of nukes...so why do we fear them having them???

I am an atheist, just thought I'd mention that now.

Can anyone truly grasp the concept of eternity? Its forever! An infinity amount of time! Does it make any sense that we should be punished or rewarded for the rest of eternity for the decisions we make during our relatively short time on earth? What kind of a system is that? Would heaven really be such a wonderful place after you've been there for 3 million years? Would hell really be so bad after a few eons of the same thing over and over again? Sounds to me like, eventually, people would become numb to either the grandeur of heaven or the sorrow of hell and just be bored. Bored for the rest of eternity.

Just my two cents on the subject.

Or maybe I like to belive they're not there but don't know?

Is my brain "hardwired" to measure the rate the submolecular compunds rotate and my brain interprets that information as mass and my inherent knowledge of the laws of attraction allow it to formulate and be solid because it would be more dense?

Hey, hey...Does that mean I had to make an agreement beforehand and limit my awareness so I can experience this reality? Well, I guess I had to intend to turn my playstation on before it worked and focus my awareness on the game being played. I guess playing playstation is a vague analogy but I chose to play the game........I think, did I?

Oh well.....

Just a thought I had while sipping on some rum and coke.

"IF" Hinduism is actually older than most religions practiced today...how can any religion that came after Hinduism claim to be the true religion when the chances are that religion was a spin off of Hinduism? I am not saying I want to study Hinduism but it is malarkey for some religions to make claims to be the true religion and the religion is younger compared to Hinduism to me. Logically since I am a process in motion I should go with the one that is the oldest when the subject of god is the matter but I chose to just not follow either but respect them all even if the majority of them came after Hinduism.

And don't answer, cause satan hasn't asked for forgiveness.....if that was the deal, then that would mean all christians would be able to hold a grudge or hate towards someone who did them wrong simply because that person didn't come back and ask for forgiveness.
