Drinking is not a sin. Getting drunk and being mastered by alcohol is.
Several verses encourage people to stay away from alcohol (Leviticus 10:9; Numbers 6:3; Deuteronomy 14:26; 29:6; Judges 13:4,7,14; 1 Samuel 1:15; Proverbs 20:1; 31:4,6; Isaiah 5:11,22; 24:9; 28:7; 29:9; 56:12; Micah 2:11; Luke 1:15). However, Scripture does not necessarily forbid a Christian from drinking beer, wine, or any other drink containing alcohol. Christians are commanded to avoid drunkenness (Ephesians 5:18). The Bible condemns drunkenness and its effects (Proverbs 23:29-35). Christians are also commanded to not allow their bodies to be “mastered” by anything (1 Corinthians 6:12; 2 Peter 2:19). Scripture also forbids a Christian from doing anything that might offend other Christians or might encourage them to sin against their conscience (1 Corinthians 8:9-13).

The Bible does not in fact condemn drinking (unless youre a nazarite Judges 13:4)
Christians and unbelievers alike have a problem with it because of the abuse and destruction the abuse has brought to bear on the American family and people just trying to drive from point A to point B without having to worry about a drunk slamming into them.

Drinking alcoholic beverages in itself is not a sin. The sin comes in being drunk with alcohol.
Alcoholism, nor any chemical addiction, is equally not a sin.

Drinking is not a sin. The sin is being drunk.
God healed me from that addiction 8 years ago.

1 Corinthians 15:32, "If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantageth it me, if the dead rise not? let us eat and drink; for to morrow we die."
Read the whole chapter to get the context.

Hello Atheist Eye Candy.. :)
The Parable of the Rich Fool.. :)
18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
The scripture you speak of is talking about Rich Fools..not Christians..
In Jesus Most Precious Name..
With Love..In Christ.. :)

paul talks of having wine as if a medicine. jesus turned water into wine. if it was such a sin, why would he have done that? it is not that drinking is a sin any more than eating. it is when you become drunk or a glutton that lines become blurred.

it is a sin if you get drunk often and abuse your body instead of a couple of drinks.
