I asked a question earlier wondering why so many people believed certain things which seem to go against simple logic, facts or common sense. These unfounded beliefs include beliefs that: we never landed on moon, OJ Simpson is not guilty, the Holocaust never happened, Robert Blake isinnocent, Bush lied about WMDs and the government is covering up UFOs. I was asking what other widely held opinions are there out there similar to those I listed. Most responder decided that this was an opportunity to bash our president and call him a liar. As I wrote, most informed and fair minded people recognize that relying on faulty intelligence is vastly different from lying. I'm still curious about the unfounded beliefs out there so I am asking again, what are some of the other controversial opinions out there that many people hold but (in my opinion) logical and reasonable people do not?

i have noticed that a lot of recovering alcoholics and addicts like to brag and always somehow slip something into the conversation about how they use to do this or how they have been sober for so long and for some reason this gets on my nerves. im a recovering alcoholic myself so i know how hard it is to get yourself together and sober up and completely change your life but whats the point of mentioning something about it all the time? when some one asks me something i dont answer it by saying "well in my 12 step program...." or "when i use to be a drunk.....'' i just dont see the need for that. im mean getting clean and sober is something to be proud about because its something that is really hard to do but being addicted to something in the first place and screwing up your whole life isnt. people who have never done drugs dont go around bragging about how they have been sober their whole lives. does this make since to anyone else? does anyone understand what im saying?

I need to mail letters for the leukemia society but was given the wrong names for the addresses in the area. New people have moved in and I do not know their names. I would like to do the mailing but do not know how to get the name to put with the address.

What would you do:
1) Silently walk to him and hit his head and later call the cops. (But by hitting him is not a guarantee he will go unconscious. He may harm you when you failed to do so..)

2) You found a gun in the drawer and shoot him from afar. (For sure, he'll be dead and you won't go to jail.)

Think about it. Risk your life or take his'.

I work at one-I think it's on the low-end of snobbery-but at times, I still see that kind of uppity-I'm-better-than-anyone-else mentality. It makes me sick. Especially when they are just trying to be important-have to pay to be somebody.

I live in Canada on the border. I have lots of American friends and I love the states, so don't think I'm trying to knock the states. But I've noticed a lot of Americans don't seem to realize that there is a whole world of great countries out there. But a lot of Americans seem to think that america is sooooo great and all other coutries suck. Anyone want to comment on this?

I invite Jess over. While she's there, my dad invites her to go shoppinga few days later. I would have invited Karen to go shopping with me, because I hadn't spent much time with her. I go shopping with Jess. She invites me to spend the night, on a school night, because I live far away from school. I didn't really want to, because that would make Karen mad that I was spending so much time with Jess. I was polite and went with Jess. I had forgotten that I had told Karen that I would give her a ride to school. Jess offered her a ride, but she got one with someone else instead. I had to go home with Jess so I could get my stuff from the night before. I normally go to Karen's house after school.

If I get my dad to pick me up from school then Karen will be even more mad. If I go to her house and she is already really mad, it would be worse.

I didn't lie to either of them at any time.

Help!

(And please don't say that I shouldn't be friends with either of them if they act like that.)
