I asked a question earlier wondering why so many people believed certain things which seem to go against simple logic, facts or common sense. These unfounded beliefs include beliefs that: we never landed on moon, OJ Simpson is not guilty, the Holocaust never happened, Robert Blake isinnocent, Bush lied about WMDs and the government is covering up UFOs. I was asking what other widely held opinions are there out there similar to those I listed. Most responder decided that this was an opportunity to bash our president and call him a liar. As I wrote, most informed and fair minded people recognize that relying on faulty intelligence is vastly different from lying. I'm still curious about the unfounded beliefs out there so I am asking again, what are some of the other controversial opinions out there that many people hold but (in my opinion) logical and reasonable people do not?

That's a good question, and a rare SANE one also. I don't know for sure. You might enjoy reading James Bamford's books, though -- he explains authoritatively quite a bit about how wars are sort of "thought up" inside the NSA well in advance of their being waged, and then brought to the president as some sort of imminent threat. I think more than anything, something like this was carried out with regard to Bush. I don't think it helps that he sort of had his mind made up anyway that it was important to focus on Saddam Hussein instead of devoting our entire focus to Afghanistan, and I think we've suffered as a result.

But your guess is as good as mine.

Nothing personal, but you must be getting your new from only one source-FOX.
If you read several newspapers, magazines, and visited many websites if not everyday, but at least once a week, you might have a differing idea of this president.
He is neither logical nor reasonable. But you do pose an interesting follow-up.

My biggest dislike of Bush is the fact that he is for banning abortion. Now, I'm not for abortion and would never consider having one. But the facts are that if abortion is banned, then women would go back to the back alley doctors, endangering themselves greatly. Whether you agree or not, it is the woman's choice over her body. In such extreme cases as rape, incest or molestation, I don't think a woman should be made to carry the baby (if one comes from this brutal act) if she is not emotionally able to handle it. Now I do think stricter guidelines should be in place such as to deal with women who get abortion after abortion. I don't know how this would be done but I think it would be better than taking away a woman's choice. Another thing I don't like is his close-minded views of non-christian religions. But hey, I didn't vote for him so.....

Yes faulty intelligence is and it certainly applies. But you want another irrational belief: that the president's only fault lay in faulty information.

I am curious as to where you found these 'facts'.

Oh, and for your contemplation - very few people actually do things out of common sense or simple logic... two and two does not always make four.

I think that most people are coming to the conclusion that your opinions stink.

Of course, they achieve this concept through fair, logical, and reasonable means.

One mans fact is another mans lie.

The real problem with this administration is the vice-president, whom may actually be in control

People do not go out of their way to bash Bush. It's easy, it's fun, and it's the right thing to do.
