This just popped into my head and so I thought I would ask here. Why are black people called Africans. Not all the people of Africa are black. Their are many Whites and Arabs to. And those called African Americans are not even from Africa(well most anyways). Plus Africa is a continent not a country. When you are from some were you say your from that country not your continent. I am American not North American. If your from Canada your Canadian also not North American. My husband is from Egypt and he is Egyptian not African. This is not about race, so don't take it that way. I was just wondering why African.

Back in January of this year, Morgan Freeman stated that he thinks that we shouldn't place so much emphasis on Black History month, because it causes people to continue to harbor negative feelings about slavery, etc. At least, I think that was what he said- by all means, correct me if this is inaccurate.

Well, what do you think about this idea? Do you think Morgan Freeman has a point? I agree with him. I think that we have to let go of the past, or we will continue to have a victim mentality about things. Lots of societies in history have been slave societies- and, mind you, I know what you are thinking- I am not saying that just because slavery has existed a long time that it is okay! But the truth is that Irish people were enslaved by the British, and the ancient Greeks had slaves, and the Egyptians enslaved the Hebrew people, et cetera. Still, we have to leave the past behind- don't you think?

Please explain your point of view, whether you agree or no. Thank you.

Why do people when asking questions refer to "they"? "They" said this or "they" said that or why do "they", but never say who "they" is? I mean, who the hell is "they"? Does anybody know?

(I know, this is not a serious question. I understand what people mean when they say "they" cuz I say it too, I just want to see what kind of answers I get. So, have some fun...IT'S FRIDAY!!)

From time to time (and I haven't been a member long enough) I see people asking questions like "where have all the good people gone?", " are there any good people left in this world?", "can you trust anyone nowadays?", etc... and usually people reply saying that there are good people left, that they personally are good people, etc. If the response is so positive and everyone seems to ask themselves the same, then how come all of those who think the same (including myself) don't manage to meet any "good people"? I mean how come all of us who are looking for good people (and at least in peoples' answers it seems that many are looking for good people) haven't met with each other?
