Especially when the question has attracted so many good answers that like five or six of them could easily quality as "best"?

I always feel as if I'm some kind of cad who flips off people's feelings by picking only one of them as having provided a "best" answer, and often end up wimping out by putting it up for a vote, even at the risk of dumbass voters picking an obviously jerkoff answer.

calling long distance is simply too expencive for me, letters take too long and nither of us are comfortable using emails.

It seems that I see too many posts that are difficult, if not impossible to understand. I can understand the use of "internet shorthand", but what I see is as far from that as Ebonics is from being a legitimate language. I see this even in posts and questions from people that are in an office environment.

I say this as a 39 year old truck driver. I am a product of taxpayer funded child abuse(aka public schooling), so the accusation of private education is not applicable. Simply, when I was in school, I paid attention and did my best. Bear in mind, I'm a truck driver, so obviously I'm no genius.

Language skills are absolutely neccessary, and yet seem to be lacking. Is this just laziness, or a sign that even though we spend fortunes to educate our kids, the money is wasted?

My question is this: Who is responsible for the poor education our children recieve, and what can be done to solve it?

my wife thinks i should never take my ring off, but when i'm at the gym and lifting heavy weights it bruises my fingers badly. the pain really effects the way i grip the barbells. and my ring is taking damage -- it gets scratched from the metal grips on the barbell... i'm devoted to my wife, but isn't this an instance where taking your ring off is okay?

i'll make things simple to understand. i owe loan sharks money (quite a sum) (i know it's my hell own fault and i regret the move) and i'm jobless now(afraid of harrasement and i know i can't focus too...) i thought of the polis but is it goin to do more harm than gd (will i be in trouble with the law too and are those guys "catchable" ??) since last few mths i've been staying out during nights and goin home only in the mornings.. Hear me out: NBC frequently runs those "To catch a predator" things where they ensnare men chatting on the internet with minors. Then on the Today show they run a touchy-feely piece about Mary Kay Letourneu and her child bride who's now of age. How are these two any different? I think MKL is worse b/c she was his teacher and she got knocked up by the kid twice !

Please help me! My now exboyfriend's brother called me and my parents freaked out cuz they thought he was some old man. Now i am sooo confused cuz my ex broke up wit me after that. He wanted to get back together and I kinda want to, but my parents said I can't cuz he curses too much. I feel like Romeo and Juliet! Then when I told him what my parents had said, he started calling me nams behind my back. His friend told me he called me a b*t*h!!! I feel sooo lousy!
