Depends on the girl. All girls like jewelry but some just wear a few pieces at a time. Earrings are nice but I think bracelets are better. When you do pick something out make sure it matches your gal personality. If she is loud, she'll like something big and bold. If she is more reserved, she will probably like something simple and danty.

If she is a country girl, or girl with simple tastes, a silver charm bracelet or cross.
Business woman? Power pearls or nice diamond earrings.
Someone you are very close to romantically? A silver or gold heart on a chain.
Woman always on the go? Nice new watch.
Mother of your children> A mothers ring is always loved.
Ready to splurge and really surprise her, take her out to dinner and surprise her by taking her to the store and let her pick it out herself.

I like all jewelry...
But I guess.. I like bracelet stuff the best.
(Suggestion: You could just give money to someone... OR if you know they have a certain obsession with something(Like purses) you could buy them that....)
