That's a tough one. My initial response is, NO. If you don't want to watch it or read it, don't. But then I think about those videos of the suicide bombers made before they did their deeds. Why should they get any airtime at all? It sickens me to see them even fleetingly before I can change the channel. It angers me that we give them any credence. So, I guess that's a sort of censorship on my part. Still, I don't think I would want such things banned. That would only make them more important. I would just like to see Western media outlets ignore them to the point of not even mentioning their existence. Let Al Jeheera show them all they want. We don't need to.
But then, I live in China, and after 9/11, there were DVDs being sold on the street of the destruction of the Twin Towers. That's just wrong, I think. The video of the journalist as his head was being chopped off should not be shown. Child pornography should be banned. And snuff films. Even footage found in a criminal's hideout of him committing his crimes , his "souvenirs", should not ever be shown publicly, even for "sociological" reasons.
So I guess my answer is yes. I do believe in banning some media.

No there is always an audience for any piece of work. The issue is how to keep adult materials out of the hands of minors. Books and movies no matter how offensive some people find them have value.

No. Nothing should be banned. Nobody is ever forced to watch, read, or listen to anything. If you find it offensive then don't watch, read, or listen to it again. And as for kids if the parents were good parents they'd know what their kids are doing.

Yeah, they do it all the time:
If it is deemed a non-seller, it'll not get pubished by larger publishers or movie houses.
You should be able to print any book and be able to offer it
