Please feel free to discuss your own society/country and whether or not you feel that the sentences given to rapists are appropriate and if you think your society's view of sex contributes to the laws pertaining to rape or sexual molestation.

For this question "sacred" doesn't necessarily mean within marriage or heterosexual. My intention is not to start a battle regarding these two issues.

hey there y'all. i just noticed something the other day while just looking at the contestants for american idol (which i hate, btw) and i noticed something. all the girls who have made it this far are beautiful, but if u look at the guys...the same cant always be said. so i started thinking about it. why is it girls have to be perfect and the total package but guys dont always have to? i know sometimes it may be harder for a guy to get a date or something, but i mean really? How come that for guys, they often have an exact image for a girl and if the perfect girl comes along and doesnt fit his idea exactly right, she goes unnoticed and is hidden from him behind "perfect" girls? How come, sometimes, guys can overlook a great girl...and it bothers me. and i know, sometimes girls do this too, but i've seen it happen alot with guys...girls can be REALLY leanient at times.

I know some cultures don't use middle names, and I was thinking about having my Hebrew name as Hadassah, with Raphaela as the middle name. Is it common for Jewish names to include middle names?

Don't give partial answers, like "because women have breasts."

That doesn't really answer the question. Men have redimentary breasts with rudimentary mammary epithelium located on top of the pectoral muscles.

The only difference between female breasts and male breasts is males possess less fatty tissue.

Many non-western cultures, from indiginous South-American societies to aboriginal tribes in Australia, do not believe female nipples to be obscene, and the women often walk around topless just as the men often do. Nor does European television censor nipples.

So why are male nipples ok, yet female nipples obscene?
What is obscene about it?

Women can become sexually aroused from seeing a man topless, just as can a man, vice-versa. Why the double-standard?

I was running errands today and while waiting at a red light, I saw a couple holing a sign that read " Pregnant and homeless" I was wishing i had some extra money to give them, and thinking about how sad it was. She was visibily pregnant. The only money I had was fifteen dollars I was getting ready to put in my gas tank, because the gas light was on. So the light turned green, and my car would not go. I had just ran out of gas, and In all of my years I had never ran out of gas. I was right in front of the couple holding the sign. The man helped me push my car to the nearby gas station. I thanked him and gave him five dollars and put the ten dollars in my tank. I guess they needed that five dollars more than I did. I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, and that God was trying to tell me something today.

Between the wars in Iraq & Afganistan and the recent violence in Israel and Lebanon, it seems we are content to solve political conflicts with brutal force. As a society, we are numb to the horrors of warfare. Human suffering doesn't seem to register in the calculations of the political establishment. Granted, the problems the world faces are vast... But unless we simply refuse war and violence as the status quo, we further human suffering by perpetuating violence in the name of nation or in the name of fighting terrorism or in the name of defending Israel, etc....

How many of you, also, are perfectly normal looking girls, but not getting any dates, etc., because you're considered the local Brainiac?

I guess after all these years I'm STILL p*ssed off that I never had any dates...not even to the Prom, just because I never learned to squeal or jump up and down when a guy looked at me, and I read Time and Scientific American instead of Style or Self.

Just want to know if there are any other unfortunate female nerds, geeks, etc. who get supercharged grades, but spend a lot of quiet evenings at home...ugh.

Feel free to add very horrible detail, I'm sympathetic.

i have too many to mention, but one of the worst is when i went to have a haircut, and i really didnt like it, i let the the stylist know, and was really huffy and snotty about it, and flounced out of the salon. i was wearing high heeled boots and as i was waiting to cross the road outside i lost my footing and just collapsed in a heap on the pavement, in full view of everyone in the salon. god just thinking about how they must all have laughed at me makes me go red even now...
