I know some cultures don't use middle names, and I was thinking about having my Hebrew name as Hadassah, with Raphaela as the middle name. Is it common for Jewish names to include middle names?

I've always liked reading the book of Esther, and Hadassah was her Jewish name. My father just recently gave me that as my Jewish name.
Raphaela means "God has healed", or something like that. I've had a rough time psychologically due to depression. About a year and a half ago, I was healed of most of the depression. I've also been told by several people and God that I'm being called to be a healer. So the name is significant.

I was also thinking of having "Asa" as a nickname. It's sort of a sortened form of Hadassah, but it also has something to do wth healer.

Hadassah also mean "myrtle tree".

I am a pretty observant Jews, and I have a middle name. All of my Jewish friends and family have middle names. As Jews are told to live by the "law of the land" first, and the "law of the Torah" second, we name our children according to the country we live in. But, biblicaly, Jews did not have middle names, their names were "first name" son of "first name" son of "first name". i.e. Moses son of Abraham son of Joseph etc.

Sarah - the wife of Abraham, "Yafat Toar" - one of the most beautiful women to ever live and very smart and loving. David - defeated Goliath and became King. Yehudit - Yehuda in female form, tradition knows us as Jews/Yehudim. Malachi - the last prophet in neveim/tanach talks about the return of Eliyahu/Elijah and the days of the messiah and third temple.
