Millions of men, women and children around the world are forced to lead lives as slaves. Although this exploitation is often not called slavery, the conditions are the same. People are sold like objects, forced to work for little or no pay and are at the mercy of their 'employers'.

Slavery exists today despite the fact that it is banned in most of the countries where it is practised. It is also prohibited by the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the 1956 UN Supplementary Convention on the Abolition of Slavery, the Slave Trade and Institutions and Practices Similar to Slavery. Women from eastern Europe are bonded into prostitution, children are trafficked between West African countries and men are forced to work as slaves on Brazilian agricultural estates. Contemporary slavery takes various forms and affects people of all ages, sex and race.

If we as a country support freedom of religon (US) then how can we legislate that polyamory is wrong if it is tied to a religous practice? Does the whole have the right to condemn the few if an act they follow is harmless? I am not stating that polyamory is harmless or harmful but more asking should those who do not practice it state that no one can do so. How does that fit with our idea of a country within the Bill of Rights?

What is the biology of race, if there is one? What exactly gives someone a 'race' besides the human race?

I don't mean culture or heritage. I know what those are.

Why do the words Black, White, and Ethnic replace a person's respective culture or nationality?

I hate to admit it, but I have had negative thoughts about certain ethnic groups and I don't like it when I do it but it seems a tendency for many people. Do most people simply have a subconscious inclination to feel their particular ethnic/racial/national group is better than all the others? I really don't want to a prejudiced person and I irritate myself whenever I have a prejudiced thought or feeling. I wonder if any of you feel like I do. Be honest, I think most people have prejudices but don't want to admit it. But admission that there IS a problem is the first step toward solving it.

That could go either way Positive or Negative but the Fact that He/She is Black doesn't help them. Like for instance Kobe Braynt, Half of America though he did it, until we found out she was trying to populate the planet on her panties. What I'm getting at is the perspective, He was guilty until proven innocent every but inside the court. I won't call it racism but it's a stereotype for sure. DO you notice this?

I need some time for myself before I breakdown. I decided to take a Monday off with prior notice. I cannot say I need time to myself, they don't understand my situation. What would be a better reason.
Remember, I will be filling out a vacation form so it can't be "my car broke down."
Any ideas?

It seems weird that people older than 30 are posting on My Space. It looks like they are trying to hook up with teens or act youthful. Shouldn't they have their own "Our Space" for older adults and give teens their "space" back?

Let me make sure I've got this straight.

The heavens and earth were created in 7 days by a being that "has always been and always will be". This being is ominiscient (all knowing), omnipotent (all powerful), and omnipresent (everywhere). Despite these traits, this creature took 7 days to create everything when it could have simply blinked everything into existence all at once. It even had to rest on the 7th day. If it's all powerful, why would it get tired or need to rest?

The first two humans were Adam and Eve, who had many children -yet no one closely examins the theory of in-breeding, despite all offspring carry the same genetic make-up of their parents.

Later, a voice from heaven told Abraham to kill his son, then basically said "Psyche!" Yet when asked about other people hearing voices, it's called mental illness. Hmmmm.

Noah gathered up 2 of every species on the Earth and put them all on a boat.

A guy named Moses talked to a burning bush. Still not considered mentlly ill.

Guys often kneel to ask their sweetheart to marry them..... why and when did that begin? And, kneeling is even used in certain erotic situations. How did the whole ancient idea of kneeling out of reverence for a diety get linked with love and sex?

Have any of you ever had an embarrassing moment that was beyond embarrassing?

In an English class I was taking I had to do a presentation. At the time I was almost certain the teacher was out to get me. I worked so hard on the project and my nerves were bad enough getting up in front of my peers. So I begin my presentation and not halfway into my presentation the teacher stops me and says:

"Some students do good on their projects, some do not. Why do you think this is true? I believe it is because they don't put enough effort into their work. Sit down."

I burst out into tears. How horrific.

So, any of you have any embarrassing moments you'd like to share?
