I haven't been to all of them and only lived in two (NY & NC) so I can only rate the ones I've been to. Therfore, please forgive me if I don't include your native Texas....
#1 NY....it has everything
#2 Vt.....peaceful, polite, very beautiful in autumn
#3 Penn....gotta love Quakers
#4 Mass.....kinda like NY, but not as much so
#5 Fla....New York South...with Disneyland & NASA
#6 Conn.....nice suburb for NYC
#7 Va.....lots of history

NY fo both the country living and big city if you want it

Hawaii here I go again : the climate
Washington country , mountains and Seattle
that is all I can come up with and sadly I do not live in any of these

California: Because it has everything.
New York: Because it has New York.
Hawaii: Just because.
Alaska: Ditto.
Connecticut: Because of what it looks like in the fall.
Arizona: Because it has the Grand Canyon.
Colorado: All those pretty mountains.

Louisiana- b/c Katrina brought the country together
