Hi, two part question:

Has anyone learned Mandarin via CD-ROMs? No class instruction. Can one actually do that and do authentic chinese people actually understand you without problems?

Does someone have experience using that 'learn languages' program, the ad which is always in National Geographic (sorry don't remember the name of the ad)? Is it worth the money? Does anyone know the name of the company of the ad which I am talking about?

thanks in advance

I don't mean any offence by this, I am genuinely interested in the answer. How do people who communicate using sign language manage to have a conversation when they are doing things like driving, pushing a shopping trolley or carrying things?

they make fun of ppl who don't speak good english, but they don't know that at least the other person is trying to learn 1 more language then their natice language. it's way better than most american who can't speak anyother language than english. i hate it when some1 makes fun of other person's english. it's stupid. it's hard learning new language but at least immigrants speak a little english, whereas it would take years for americans to learn other language (i'm not talking about spanich, french -which has alphabet). i mean different languages like urdu, hindi, gujrati, chinese, korean, japanese, etc. ...................................................y can't they just respect immigrants instead of insulting them and make fun of their accent?????????? ................. and don't tell me that "if they can't speak english, y the hell did they even come to america" and all that bull ****

I work in a chemistry lab, and I need to know how to tell the people next door, "Please don't use that sink. It's leaking into our lab." If you could tell me how to say this or something similar I'd appreciate it. Tell me the exact translation of what you write, please. I'd appreciate both phonetic and written (Chinese-alphabet) answers.

Why the "S".
There is a difference in the noun when there is one OBJECT to two OBJECTS.
There is no difference in the noun between two OBJECTS and a squillion OBJECTS.
Why keep the plural law in grammar?
