I heard that it's one of the best ways to learn a foreign language.

Well, I'm taking the Chinese version of Rosetta Stone. I can tell you that I won't completely learn the language like this, but it's helpful for me to have the software just for practice. Quite frankly, it's like a hobby, nothing to actually use. I would recommend it, though, if you'd like to get ahead in your language; I'm in college and trying to get a level up on the proficiency test.

Rosetta Stone, in my opinion, is not a credible source for people that might want to put this on a Resume.

Some of the pictures are weird-looking too, and this may add to your confusion of the language

Don't fall for the sales pitch. If I were you, I'd get any software, a textbook, maybe the one that they use at an Ivy League, a tape, and someone that speaks the language. These are probably cheaper alternatives to the class or a teacher. You can ask questions to whoever speaks the language to see if you're right and go from there.

Hope this helps you.

I've tried the 30 day trial. For people who learn visually it is good, at least to start with. I have trouble imagining that it would be quick to become fluent with their methods.

There are debates in the linguistic community whether it's better to use a completely "natural" method, meaning the way kids learn their first language, or better to use a common language to explain the complexities of the language you are learning.

I personally think that the Rosetta "natural" method is a good way to start learning vocabulary, then gradually introduce other activities using a common language.

My 2 cents.

I have that one and several others and do not recomend any of them to anyone.

It is so much better to either find a native speaker that also speaks your language well or find a good class teaching situation. Some can learn by using computer programs but it is so much better when you can actually ask questions of the teacher.

There are a lot of these programs out there and if you have no other way then you may have to give several a try.

I think you must have been reading their website. It isn't the absolute worst, but was pretty outdated even 20 years ago. They only use one method to teach a language. No matter what the language, you would probably be better finding something online, even if it costs a bit more.

It's not really that good. I had the Turkish version and although I learned some vocabulary "naturally", it was nothing that I could actually use in a conversation.
