How can an 8 year old girl give her father a valentine card?... sounds a bit "sus" if you ask me.
I know there is a tradition of (ahem) close family ties in the southern states but surely this goes beyond the bounds of good taste?

I am not cold hearted or anything. I have a boyfriend who I love dearly. I'm a naturally sweet person, but I just don't view valentine's day the way "romantic" girls do. I would like to classy myself as a "romantic-realist". I like dreams to be obtainable and actions to have purpose. I know that the purpose of valentine's day is to show your love to someone else, but isn't it better to show your love all the time? I feel kind of bad because my boyfriend is making a bigger deal out of this than I am. He is afraid to disappoint me but the truth is I don't have any expectations. He understands but would like the day to be special. I love special days but it seems like this day on a calendar is an excuse to recieve flowers/candy and have more sex.

My boyfriend think's Valentine's Day is a dumb holiday. It kindof makes me sad because the 3 years we have been dating we never do anything for it. I see everyone at school and work getting gifts from their husbands and boyfriends and it just makes me really sad. :( He knows that I wish he'd care more about these holidays (he doesn't celebrate our anniversary either) but I never get any reaction other than "It's an excuse for men to waste their money" I still got him a gift though! Just because he doesn't like it doesn't mean I can't like it.

(and about our anniversary, we dont have an actual date for it -- the whole "going out" thing just kindof merged but we have a made up date for our approximate anniversary... but he uses the fact that there isnt a real date that we don't have to celebrate it. - just thought i'd clear that up a bit.)

Happy Valentine's Day by the way! I hope yours will be better than mine. :/

Even though I have a girlfriend… my ex-girlfriend knows this—she gives me a teddy bar and chocolate candy for early Valentines Day. Why is she doing this? When my girlfriend finds out she will be angry.

My husband has always said to me that he is not the "gift giving type" birthdays xmas etc it's always the same...i have to ask for the gifts i never have recieved anything without me mentioning it or asking for something.this valentines day i just gave up decided that im not going to ask or care at all,coz if i don't mention it then nothing will be said....i used to get him gifts and things all the time but he didnt even take 5 minds to think of me...i know that its all a big commercial thing etc etc..but it wouldnt hurt to show someone u love them on an appropriate occasion such as this..

I am the self proclaimed "Scrooge" of Valentine's Day. I hate it. Should I embrace VDay as a day to celebrate being all alone, or continue with my Bah Humbug attitude?

Look, don't get me wrong. I have a partner and love a bit of romance but why do it today only? I see so many people with all this overpriced stuff, ready to give it to their loved one. Why? because the governments decided xmas & easter didn't bring in enough cash? If they bought the same stuff tomorrow, it would be half the price. Doesn't that make more sense, to buy it tomorrow? Opinions please..

Heres the deal, theres this girl i've liked for a while and i've asked her out for this V-Day for a movie. Shes told me before that shes not a big fan of chocolate, nor she doesnt realy like gifts, but a buddy of mine whom shes known for 5 or more years says that she does like gifts from friends. So What do I do? Do I buy a Rose and Chocolate or something little less traditional. She loves color black, shes not gothic, but sometimes kinda seems that way but doesnt worship the devil or non of that stuff shes a christian. So... any ideas? I would realy prefer ladies to answer this questions since they know more about themselves then us guys. I guess you could say i'm trying to impress her so to speak. Im not sure what movie to watch here a list of them Music & Lyrics, Tyler Perrys Daddys Little Girls, Norbit, The Messengers, Because I Said So, Smokin Aces, Night at the Museum. Which of these would be the Best. Thanks in Advance

I was thinking about buying balloons and leaving them on his doorstep... but I want something a little more personal and meaningful.

Would it be weird to get him a box of chocolates since that's usually what the guy gives to the girl? Any ideas on what a guy would like to receive for Valentine's Day?

He's into sports (basketball and baseball) and music (mostly rock and reggae) if that helps at all.

Thanks everybody!

Was anyone else a forgotten person on Valentine's Day? I grew up as a fat girl, so Valentine's Day was a lonely, lonely day for me.

Does anyone else hate this day as much as me?

We both teach at a very small school, and we've gone out to have drinks with friends before, but no follow-up whatsoever. I think she's awesome, and I'm pretty sure she's unattached. SHould I put a valentine in her box, and if so, what should or shouldn't it say?????
