I am the self proclaimed "Scrooge" of Valentine's Day. I hate it. Should I embrace VDay as a day to celebrate being all alone, or continue with my Bah Humbug attitude?

You shouldn't have to celebrate it, like capitalism seems to make Christmas now, but you don't have to be bah humbug about it, either. It's just a day, and the only time I ever celebrate it was when my boyfriend now husband made me a six foot card with our pictures in it.

It was really neat, but we are too busy now to celebrate it, not that we would do anything spectacular since having sex is not spectacular, we like sneaking up on each other and finding new ways of surprising the other by when/where we do that. We seem to keep romance alive the whole year so that we don't need to have one day to cram everything into just that day. It just doesn't seem fair to think about romance only in February.

You are not wrong, Valentine's day for me always meant having a card sharing day at elementary school. Some people never grow up and they like that sort of thing where they work (shoot me, please, if I have to put up with that at work.... :-) They like the attention they get when "oh my gosh, look at the roses my b/f gave me, I've only known him since last night and when he left my house this morning I had no idea he thought that way....oh my gosh!" You get the idea, these people need valentines day to feel important.....

or you could forget that it is about a "lover's day" which is ridiculous that we all need 1 day out of the year to show that we love them I don't celebrate Valentines Day either. I do celebrate February 14th - National Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Day. It'll make you feel better to think about something important instead of what crappy candy to buy or what flowers to kill. I pass out flyers and read up on the facts. I tell people about it. I am hoping to plan an event next year.

You should have your reasons to feel that way, but don't try the others to think in the same way you do. perhaps if you tell us why is that may be we could understand you better or advise you better. I'm so sorry that with all the bad things happening around the world you aren't able to enjoy a day that supposed to be meant to share our love with our couples, friends and family. What do you need? Perhaps I understand that something it can be done every and any day, but is part of the culture from the east and many other nations in Europe. What can we say to you to make you feel a little different about V-Day?

Journee B ... I hate Valentine's Day, too. It's so, so predictable. I like to get something for my loved one whenever it suits me, not according to some pre-determined schedule such as the arrival of Valentine's Day. Furthermore, if you've done your best all year long and your significant other appears dissatisfied with your Valentine's Day efforts, that can be especially depressing.

Yes, I'm with you. I don't hate Valentine's Day, but it's not for me and it sounds like it's not for you either. Good luck, Journee B.

Do not hate the day. Not because it's Valentine's day, but because we should not hate anything/anyday/anyone.
Everything has it's own significance, though somethings differ from our ideology.
Still remain indifferent, spread love and try to eradicate hatred from the heart of each human being.

I think that you should just forget it's V-day tomorrow that's what I'm doing. I like being a scrooge for V-day. And even if you like being alone and single tomorrow is not the day to celebrate it.

Valentine's Day does not have to be about having a significant other, it can be about celebrating anyone or anything that you love. I always go out to dinner with my family on V-Day and then I make everyone their favorite dessert. it does not have to be about smooching and crap. Make it your own holiday about something that YOU love! :)

You're definitely not wrong. In fact, you're not the only one who hates valentine's day.I hate valentine's day too.We all hate valentine's day for different reasons. And it's not wrong to feel this way.So cheer up and be happy,if you're still waiting for that special someone,he'll come soon enough....Just like me,i'm still waiting here all alone, waiting for my true lover to rescue me....

V day and X mas is rough on me the last few years because I've been broke for the last few years. My girlfriend actually suggested that we skip v day this year due to some family issues and just her overall energy level.
