Is there any way to find out approximately how many Turkeys will "Get It" this year??

It is commonly credited to the Pilgrims at Plymouth, Massachusetts.

But it is also said to have originated earlier in Texas with Spanish missionaries. And it is also said to have been inspired by a Jewish harvest holiday.

Can we trace Thanksgiving all the way back to the ancients? By the way, I am not an ancient. I'm sort of old, but not an ancient yet.

For me Thanksgiving was always celebrated at my house with extended family until i was 11, then my dad left and we -my mom and sis, spent thanksgiving with a cousins wifes family who we had nothing in common with and verbally abused us.

After going to his house for 10 yrs we decided to stop, he was so mad he has not spoken to us in 4 years..

To me Thanksgiving reminds me of bad memories, anyone else feel similar?

I'm not even thankful for the food as I can buy it, make it and eat it at anytime of the year. I work for what I have and am not thankful to anyone or for anything. I love only myself but tolerate others. So I'm not even thankful for family or friends. But my family and friends think I'm this oh so kind person, which I am, but if they only knew I value nothing excecpt myself. Does this make me a bad person - my honesty that is?

Is anyone else spending a quiet Thanksgiving completely alone or with just a spouse? I grew up the oldest of 6 kids and we always had aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, neighbors .. TONS of people. It just seems so sad to me .. but I am still thankful for what I do have and a husband who loves me.

I know tomorrow is thanksgiving day down there in the US. (hi from Canada) It was thanksgiving here just over a month ago. I was just thinking of things in my life that i am thankful for....

Billions of them are slaughtered in preparation for this day. We eat them and feel (temporarily) sated. Does anyone not see the irony in this, us giving thanks even as we are taking the lives of helpless creatures and eating dead bodies of birds?

does your family have anything different besides turkey mashpotatoes, stuffing etc....., like cheeseburgers and french frys, hotdogs and chips, pizza, fish , chili, tacos.... not a traditional thanksgiving dinner.

This is my first Thanksgiving and I feel like it's already turning into a disaster. We took out our 12lb bird from the freezer and into the fridge Sunday night. Checking it throughout the I realized, it's a tad bit thawed but still very rock hard. Thanksgiving is tomorrow and it's already 9:41 pm here. I don't know what to do to thaw it the safe and fast way. What do you suggest is best. Thanks in advance!
