Well its a little more than all that. Historically it is known as a celebration of the plymouth settlers who learned from a certain slave named Squanto (and other indians) how to grow and harvest food, among other survival tactics. I forget a lot of the historical details, but thanksgiving definitely represented a time of thankfullness to get together and celebrate the bountiful blessings of food, loved ones, AND our freedom and independence (those last two were particularly important for the first settlers). Plymouth is in the state of Virginia, and I live in Virginia close to plymouth and Jamestown so its pretty cool because the history is very important and sometimes they do re-enactments and stuff. But like all traditions it gets modernized with time, so now its mostly about getting together and eating a wonderful meal with your family while getting a break from school and work...to just enjoy and be thankful. Where are you from?? Oh well no matter, Happy Thanksgiving! :)

tomorrow, the fourth thursday of november. It's a national holiday where we "give thanks at the conclusion of the harvest season", meaning families get together and pig out on turkey and other food.
