Go to a local deli, buffet, or restaurant. I guarantee that most of the places near you will have a cheap turkey dinner that you can take-out. Make sure to go early, so they don't sell out. Happy Thanksgiving!

Be thankful for the parade.

Oh, yeah. Try to find the stuff you need to make a sandwich. Chances are you will at least be able to have food of some kind.

And, if you want a traditional Thanksgiving dinner you may find a free feast somewhere in your community--many churches and philanthropists make them available.

You may not have very much, but you and your mom have each other. You are alive and I gather you are well. And you have the means to watch the parade.

And don't jump off a cliff. That would make your mom sad.

If you lived near me, I'd give you a couple of packets of Easy Mac. That's what I'll be eating today. By myself.

Whatever you do, don't jump off a cliff. There are worse things than not having a big holiday meal. At least you have your mother, and, really, that's what holidays are all about: being with family.

First of all, calm down. I'm sorry that happened. :( A lot of restaurants do free Thanksgiving dinners. Find one in your area and go there with your family. Your mom might even appreciate not having to cook this year.

It doesn't have to be the traditional meal. As long as there is something to eat, you're already ahead of many. Don't fret. Be thankful that you have your mom and enjoy cereal if that's what there is. If there is absolutely nothing, go to a food pantry. Don't panic. God bless and be thankful for what there is.

Go to a local shelter or soup-kitchen that serves the homeless and poor. No one will turn you away, and you can talk to other people in that situation.
