Holidays - December 2007

I got not many things, only because my parent's were really busy with helping my aunt move into her apartment, and then my grandparent's were moving, and my grandma was sick..so I didn't get a lot. But, I did get an electric guitar with an amp! I am soo happy! I also got $1,000!!!!!![I'm going to the mall Saturday, and I'm seeing National Treasure 2!] I was wondering what did you get?

A sort of traditionarted between my wife and I that on Christmas day in the morning we would get up, put on the heater in the sitting room, have our showers, then go down and open our presents in the nude! The odd thing bis that we weren'tparticularly "nudists" at any other time!
Unfortunately we are not together at the moment, and I was with my parents on Christmas morning, and it seemed odd opening my presents in my clothes!

Assalaam A Alaikum All,

I have found something about Remembraning Allah in Quran and Sunnah which I would like to share with all of you.

Dhikr (Remembrance) in the Quran and Sunnah

"Those who believe (in the Oneness of Allâh), and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of Allâh, Verily, in the remembrance of Allâh do hearts find rest" (Surah ar'Ra'd 13:28)

"O you who believe! Celebrate the praises of Allah, and do so often; and glorify Him morning and evening." (Holy Qur'an 33:41-41)

Allah (SWT) has commanded us to remember him always. He says: "Remember Me, I shall remember you." (Qur'an 2:152)

Allah(SWT) says in the Quran Al-Kareem:

"And establish regular prayer, for prayer restrains from shameful and unjust deeds, and remembrance of Allah is the greatest thing in life, without doubt." (Surah al-Ankabut 29:45)

I dont know what to think.
My parents told me that Santa do exist, and he's the one who gave me presents!
The cookies and milk I left for him vanished the next day. Who ate it if not Santa himself?!
But, this whole Santa thing seems a bit, untrue.

Off the top of my head, entirely in minor or dorian, there's God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, What Child Is This?, Sing We Now of Christmas, Carol of the Bells, O Come O Come Emmanuel... O Holy Night spends time in minor, as does It Came Upon the Midnight clear.

So if Christmas is supposed to be happy, why all the minor?

My theory is that these carols were written by liturgical writers, and that the aeolian and dorian modes simply used to be more popular, especially with the church. This is reinforced by the fact that the carols in major tend to be secular, while the ones in minor are almost always about Christ... but does anyone have a real explanation for this phenomenon?

What is there to do that does not cost much $$$$. I live in Adelaide, Australia.
So far done nothing but surf internet, hired / brought DVD's to watch, slept. My car is too unreliable to go for long country drive and I am trying to not drink booze everyday of holidays.
