What to do these work holidays?

What is there to do that does not cost much $$$$. I live in Adelaide, Australia.
So far done nothing but surf internet, hired / brought DVD's to watch, slept. My car is too unreliable to go for long country drive and I am trying to not drink booze everyday of holidays.

Go to the seashore or park if one is nearby, spend time with nature. Hone your skills in bird-watching.
Call up some friends who may have time hanging on them during the holidays and play some intellectual games with them.
If you have postponed doing some jobs round the house, this is the time to attend to them - this would not only keep you occupied but also would achieve something useful.
If you are interested in reading, you could always get some books from the library and read them.
I am sure you can think of other things to do, beside these.
