january...april...july...october...?

wouldnt you prefer a secular logical calender that splits the year neatly into halves and quarters?

because this has an astronomical basis, it is applicable globally...and might be taken up planet wide [as new year is these days]

I hate the commercialism of this holiday and want nothing to do with co-erced giving of gifts. If I want to give a gift to someone I do, but not this way. Whats a nice way to put this?

i am one of those parents (along with my husband) that believes we should not lie to our children, telling them there is a santa claus, tooth fairy and easter bunny.

we also want to have our family celebrate the Christian meanings of Christmas and Easter without the "fairy tales" getting in the way.

do you/did you let your kids believe in santa claus? why or why not?

any rude remarks at all will be given a low rating. i am not trying to start a fight because i know the whole "believing in santa claus" seems sort of touchy with a lot of people.

gimmee your opinions and the best will get "best answer"

If you are "offended" by the suggestion that Christmas is Jesus' birthday..then dont take the holiday pay or the day off. All those people should report to work all next week. It would save companies millions for your dedication to your cause!...and it would allow me to go get my breakfast biscuit as normal.
If you have to say "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas", you should not ever be allowed to put a tree up or a blinking light.
ok..here's the question part for the yahoo police:
Do you agree?

Just was thinking...if everything Before Christ (B.C.) in the Roman/western calendar.. is before birth... and everything on the switch-side is A.D. (After Death)... then WHAT HAPPENED to the other 33 years, in between? And moreover, what happened to that first week in-between Dec. 25th and ultimately the 1st day of Jan. 1st -- just kidding, I know the Church set the Xmas date for celebration just 100s of years ago...

Some people like all the ornaments to be just one color. I like it all red, or gold. How about you?

I also would like to tell myself i will get up and jog and do crunches to work on my new years abs but that might be hoping for too much! What are you planning on, anything creative or tear jerking?

What date do we celebrate "holiday" on? Did I miss it?
Why is it OK for Lowe's to have "Family Trees" (I know that they have changed it, but they wouldn't have done it on their own). Who buys a tree unless they celebrate Christmas?

I wan't to celebrate the winter solstice. It really annoys me the way Christians have impressed their little story on the Yule. Anyone agree?
