i am one of those parents (along with my husband) that believes we should not lie to our children, telling them there is a santa claus, tooth fairy and easter bunny.

we also want to have our family celebrate the Christian meanings of Christmas and Easter without the "fairy tales" getting in the way.

do you/did you let your kids believe in santa claus? why or why not?

any rude remarks at all will be given a low rating. i am not trying to start a fight because i know the whole "believing in santa claus" seems sort of touchy with a lot of people.

gimmee your opinions and the best will get "best answer"

I let my son believe in Santa Claus, the Easter bunny, and all the other fairy tale creatures that went along with the holidays. I guess in part, it was because it was something that was special to me as a child. The butterflys in the stomach on Christmas eve wondering if Santa was coming down the chimney even then. The hunt for easter eggs on Easter morning. The quarter under the pillow where a tooth used to be. It gave me a lot of special memories that I cherish now when I watch the same reactions in my son.

Another reason, is that childhood should be a time of discovery and "magic". Where snowflakes are the most amazing thing that can be. Or when there is amazement in the sight of light dancing on water. I wanted him to have that for as long as he could.

Yes.

I am Christian. I also choose to let the traditions of Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy be a part of their lives as well.

Kids need to pretend. My generation and generations before me all grew up with those legends and turned out just fine. None of us were emotionally scarred when we figured out they were fake, and none of us hated our parents for "lying" to us. It was a rite of passage, figuring out that all of those creatures were actually Mom and Dad.

Kids are growing up faster than ever these days. I want them to enjoy their childhood for all its worth, and that includes a brief period of believing in Santa Claus before they figure it out.

And, whilst they're the right age, they in many cases start up figuring that he isn't any longer genuine and parent it out by ability of themselves. they're additionally the right age to have a dialogue approximately how St. Nicholas became into genuine and how santa is an emblem of him. the genuine spirit of Christmas is a lot extra important yet santa is merely relaxing to work out the wonder in young little ones eyes. i % my young little ones to have self assurance that magic exists jointly as they nevertheless can. i do no longer see a situation with that. Edit: i admire how pass over Cookie has santa merely convey one recent. i think of it somewhat is a good suggestion. Oh, and my siblings and that i are all adults and my mom nevertheless signs and indicators the presents under the tree "from santa". : ) i % the traditions that contain santa, like leaving the cookies out. I additionally plan on having different traditions nonetheless, whilst the youngsters are slightly older i %, for each good deed the do, to convey jointly a chew of straw and positioned it in a cradle for toddler Jesus. extra straw makes it softer, so which you may desire to do an excellent form of excellent deeds for one yet another! : )
