Christmas - December 2007

[Selected]: All categories Society & Culture Holidays Christmas

The face of christmas has been hijacked by faceless, money grabbing companies. Christmas should be a time of sharing and being thankfull not how much you spend. By returning Santa to his traditional colours we can start to reclaim this magical time and focus on it's true meaning.... Please see poll on my 360 page...

By small I mean 1-3 feet tall. Also, I am looking for a store that sells them "in person" ... I'd rather not buy it online and wait for it to be shipped.

Thanks!

If you had to spend Christmas day all by yourself, what would you do? Any family that I would want to go see is too far away to travel to, because I have to work on Christmas Eve. I really am feeling sorry for myself, I think this is very sad. I have always been with family at Christmas. I truly am thankful for everything that I should be thankful for; my job, car and home. I thought about maybe volunteering at a soup kitchen or something. What do you think?

Alrigt my aunt and uncle get our family the wierd, most pointless Christmas gifts like neon light and say bowling, and i dont bowl and no one in my family does, heated gloves, chocolate covered pretzels....just wierd things so last year we got them a chocolate fountain and that seemed to work as a pointless gift to get them back...so i need suggestions for this years gift...

The store I work at has a Secret Santa. i got the head of our cosmetics department. I just don't know what to get her.
She's in her 50s. According to other colleagues she likes getting her nails and hair done and she likes to make herself look pretty. The rules are the gift has to be over $20 and it cannot be from the store. I work at a retail drug store. Also we're not allowed to give gift cards or gift certificates. She's also moving in January. She's still staying with the company but just going to another store in a different state. i've only worked at the store for 6 months so I never really got to know her and we never really got along. But I still need an idea of what to get her so what can I get her?

Where is the best place too see Christmas decorations on houses in the South East of London, Croydon, Surrey, Bromley areas, and mid surrey? I mean are there any well know areas for having competitions between the houses? Or any that ask for charitable donations? What im looking for are over the top outrageous houses that a 6 year old child would like. Or somewhere like a woodland or park that is nicely decorated. Central London however, is a no-go!!!!!!. Thanks for all your suggestions!

Or do you let the store wrap things whenever possible? Do you spend a long time over each one and wrap them carefully, with consideration to how the ribbons and bows will look with the paper you've used? Or, do you shove a gift into gift bags and throw a bit of tissue over it to hide what's in the bag?

I take a long time on each one. And carefully coordinate the paper and ribbons and bows. I add little touches, such as threading a contrasting bit of curling ribbon thru the bow. Love using those holographic, sparkly ribbons, etc.

My daughter once told me she didn't want to open the gift, as the package was too pretty to get torn up.

Have you started wrapping yet? Mine are about half done. Since I only wrap one or two per day, it takes many days to get it done.

I am not a parent and I don't have kids, I have had no intentions of having kids, I consider my hard heaed cousins my kids, the thing I hate about wrapping paper is you have to get enough of it wrapped around the gift u r wrapping, sometimes enough paper doesn't come on the roll, and you have to buy like 3 or 5 things or wrapping paper and if that is not enough work and stress, on trying to wrap as many gifts as you can before the kids get up or before you have to stop what you are doing to pick the kids up from school and they come home to see what you have been planning on wrapping that you didn't have time to wrap because you had to pick them up from school, and the worst thing about taping is not creating a huge mess.

See the story behind it is that I really really dont' like his boss. The guy is totally disrespectful and innapropriate, I have very little patience for this man.
My fiance feels obligated to go to the party and so I have to go with him, there's no way around that.
We are supposed to be meeting everyone to go sledding and then go out for dinner. How can I convince myself to just have a good time and not get caught up with what his boss says or does? *whining* I really really wish I didn't have to go :(
